Status lifetime - where?

Hello, Using Xymon 4.3.7, if I use the 'xymon' command and specify a status lifetime, as mentioned in the man page, is there anywhere on the server that I can see what the lifetime is? That is, the date/time when the status should expire. I tried search for 'disk added rrd xymon' etc etc – and of course got the phone book – so here is my (hopefully) simple problem Bbwin 1.3 client --> xymon 4.3.5 server Has disks: C , D, F, G Graphs happy, trending, everything working Add a new disk, remove disk "G", new disk is "H" Now, I have graphs continuing for /C,/D,/G Have graph for G with variables of NaN No graph for /F How do I rebuilt the RRD to have values/replace "G" with "H" in the RRD -Sean ________________________________ This E-mail and any of its attachments may contain Time Warner Cable proprietary information, which is privileged, confidential, or subject to copyright belonging to Time Warner Cable. What version of Xymon agent will compile/run on MAC OSX 10.5.8

Hi folks. It's been quiet on the list. Hope all is well. I'm trying to find which version of the xymon agent will compile and run on an older MAC OS X 10.5.8 computer. We tried the 4.3.7 build but it won't start on OSX 10.5.8 I was going to go download 4.3.3. but wanted to see if anyone knew before what version we should be starting with? Thanks Don K

externals with a Linux client?

Hey all, I have been using the externals with bbwin to run scripts I've created for custom tests, but I need to do the same with a linux client I have. Any ideas how to run an external script with a linux client? With bbwin, you just use the externals.dll and put your .exe path in the externals section of the xml config file and write your test result to the tmp directory for the hobbit service to pick up. Collect RRD data just for specific host/test combinations?

Hi list. Is there a way of just telling Xymon to collect RRD data just for specific host/test combinations? (Rather than all hosts for a given test, which is how the http://www.xymon.com/xymon/help/howtograph.html page says is the way to do it.) Kind regards, SebA

How To or RFE - documenting each alert?

As our environment becomes more complex, our NOC folks are asking that we find a way to document *each* alert. On the built in tests, there's a place in Xymon to put one piece of documentation for our entire enterprise- for example, I can add a link to the "http" dot in columndoc.csv that points to our doc wiki , and there's a way to put in documentation linked to the host name - but what we desperately need is a way to document *each* host-test pair. What we want is to be able to click on a red dot in the All Non-Green view, and see a link showing how to resolve that alert. Clicking on a red dot for host1 http red alert should show the link for how to resolve a host1 http alert, and clicking the red dot for host2 http should show a link for how to handle host2 http. Different server's http alerts require different NOC actions. Is there a way anyone can think of to do this? Does anyone else see a need for this?

xymon freebsd memory calculations

Hi people, I was just trying to track down why the memory used was showing 0% on my FreeBSD systems and have found an interesting bug. The logic in xymond/client/freebsd.c is a little funny with fall back positions depending on what is supplied from the client, but essentially if there is no vmtotal section in the client data (old client) then the figure is used from meminfo which has been pretty good (but perhaps not perfect). If there is a section Free Memory Pages in the vmtoal section then that number is used in preference. Problems: The number is in K bytes so must be adjusted for use. The offset to the end of the searched for string is 19 not 18 (must count the leading newline). We arent calculating memphyused if we use the vmtotal method. The string Free Memory Pages: changes to Free Memory: with revision 234134 by eadler, Wed Apr 11 14:18:18 2012 UTC to /head/sbin/sysctl/sysctl.c (http://svnweb.freebsd.org/base/head/sbin/sysctl/sysctl.c?r1=234133&r2=23413…) My suggested fix is to change the logic at line 82 onwards in xymond/client/freebsd.c to read as follows: if (vmtotalstr) { p = strstr(vmtotalstr, "\nFree Memory Pages:"); if (p) { memphysfree = atol(p + 19)/1024; memphysused = memphystotal - memphysfree; found++; } else { p = strstr(vmtotalstr, "\nFree Memory:"); if (p) { memphysfree = atol(p + 13)/1024; memphysused = memphystotal - memphysfree; found++; } } } Regards, Brian Scott P.S.
