After running a trimhistory from this post, http://lists.xymon.com/oldarchive/2010/02/msg00010.html I no longer have any history on our "all non green" page. I have been looking for a way to track down this fix, and have been unsuccessful, does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? The CPU on the xymon server has also substantially increased in load. xymond_filestore: crashed but still working (too well?)

All -- Am turning on the "xymond_filestore" worker module for the first time and have a couple of odd things (to my mind) happening: 1) The status icon in Xymon ("xymond_filestore") is red, and the details page says "Program crashed / Fatal signal caught!". I imagined I would *only* get files under $XYMONDATADIR sent from my custom client script, but instead I'm getting zillions (actually a few thousand) showing up in that dir. Can someone please explain why I'm getting all these client "data" files in this dir? More to my point -- is there any way to restrict only the data files I want to appear in this dir? Strange behaviour: summary reports purple while test details is OK

Good day! We had renamed 2 hosts today and renamed all (I hope) at host level and in XyMon config and restarted XyMon server and clients too. Rename in XyMon was done as: a) changes records in hosts.cfg b) xymon 127.0.0.1:port "rename OLD_HOST NEW_HOST" Now XyMon Server (4.3.11) - generates purple for 1st host in non-green and group reports while every test details shows green, yellow, red and so on what is expected. the same server - generates normal reports for 2nd host renames We have 2 XyMon server for High Availability and clients send info to both. The 2nd XyMon Server (4.3.4) - generate normal reports for both renamed hosts. So, question N 1 is - how to find where is the problem? This only thing I had found in info report (which with trends are always green by the way) is that different status for the same metric is reported with minimal interval delta (~ 10 min which may be time since hostname change and xymon client restart and when "rename" was called at XyMon server. By the way, I had found on both XyMon servers there are still directories for old nad new hostnames under xymon/data/hostdata/ old host data not updated any more, but new ones only. Question N2: Is it expected or after xymon "rename ... " call all should be merged into one directory per host? Ports not sending emails

Hi folks. I'm having a brain freeze. I thought I had it setup to alert on ports not listening but not getting any emails. Here's may alerts.cfg snip: HOST=ServerProd SERVICE=conn,disk,memory,ports,procs TIME=W:0730:2059 SCRIPT /usr/lib64/xymon/server/ext/html_mail.pl appsupport at yahoo.com REPEAT=30m DURATION>5 RECOVERED The port isnt' listening but not getting any emails. Acknowledge multiple alerts not working

Hi, I have installed xymon-4.3.11-10.el6.x86_64 from the Terabithia server on RedHat EL6. The acknowledgement of multiple alerts is not working correctly. That means, that the selection of hours and days is not working. When I acknowledge a single alert and I select a period of 3 hours, this is correctly stored as 180 minutes in the acknowledge.log. But when I select multiple alerts with the checkboxes, all numbers are interpreted as minutes, no matter if I select hours or days. Dirk

execute a command from server (browser) on a client

Is it possible to execute a command on client from xymon browser? eg. 1.If a service is in RED state, just select that service and fire restart command from browser. 2. If tomcat not responding then take thread dump from browser by selecting that particular tomcat. I can write html for gui.

Configuring alerts

Hi I am using the latest version of xymon and I would like to achieve the following in the alerts. For alerts that I send to our service desk, I only want to send weekdays between 7am and 6pm, I would like to delay sending for 5 minutes but never send a repeat alert to them. MAIL $SERVICEDESK DURATION>5 COLOR=red REPEAT=0 TIME=W:0700:1800 In addition to this I want to send alert to servicedesk manager, weekdays between 7am and 6pm, I would like to delay sending for 1 hour, send a repeat alert to them every 30 mins but then stop sending after 4 hours. Is this possible? PAGE directirve in analysis.cfg

Hi, I have installed xymon-4.3.11-10.el6.x86_64 from the Terabithia server on RedHat EL6. I have a problem with a PAGE directive in my analysis configuration. My hosts.cfg looks like this: ################# 0.0.0.0 vm.xyz.de # bbd http://localhost/ page ldap LDAP servers 1.2.3.4 ldap1.xyz.de # ... 2.3.4.5 ldap2.xyz.de # ... ################# Now I add tests for the slapd process and the ldap ports to a file in the analysis.d directory. The file looks like this: PAGE=ldap PORT "LOCAL=%([.:]389)$" min=1 col=red TRACK=ldap TEXT=LDAP PORT "LOCAL=%([.:]636)$" min=1 col=red TRACK=ldaps TEXT=LDAPS PROC slapd 1 1 This works fine, with the exception, that the tests are also done for the xymon server itself (vm.xyz.de). The ports and procs tests for the xymon server immediately turned red. When I change the analysis file so that it contains a HOST statement, only those hosts are tested. But the PAGE entry doesn't seem to work properly. Has anyone else seen this? Dirk
