Hi all: We use xymon as main systems behavior collector, grapher and troobleshooting tool. But I have some doubts about if the graphics are fine of something inside Xymon or my server isn't working fine.. As you can see on this clipix share http://www.clipix.com/9/share-YSAcXi7_ or attached image. Some nics have pretty much work but as they traffic is plotted over the following categories 12 days, and 48 day it seems that the magnitude ( the total speed) is rescaled. That behavior make us wink our eyebrows since we can't assure which speed is becoming "common". For example look this Monday 0000 bar seems to graph a 250Mbps activity but on the 12 days graph barely shows 80Mbps (that's misleading and confusing). So my questions are: a) are speed averaged ? b) do I have a problem with vertical scale ? c) does the problem resides on how rrdtool plots or internal manipulation of the Solaris scripts? AFAIK, the 48 hours speed are fine and correct. Thanks a lot by any help or input about this questions... NFS mounts

This is a general/first time question about NFS mounted file systems. If I understand correctly (please correct me if I am wrong), by default Xymon Linux client doesn't check NFS mounts. I had a user ask to monitor a FILE which is on an NFS mounted filesystem. However, after adding FILE to analysis.cfg on the Xymon server, it still doesn't show up for this host (been watching for over 30-minutes and it still says "No files checked". Alarm ID number in "RECOVERED" emails

Good morning, all. Using Xymon in my business environment, we're configured to send alarm emails and recovery emails to our operations center. The emails go into an alarm console, so that the NOCC has a single pane of glass for the initial alarms. I was asked, this morning, and am noticing this behavior for the first time. When Xymon sends out yellow or red alarms, there is an alarm ID number in the subject, a la: Xymon [137502] fqdn.domain.com:http CRITICAL (RED) or in the body, a la: hostname:procs red [445232] But when the alarm recovers, the alarms that had the ID in the subject do not include that ID in the recovery email: Xymon fqdn.domain.com http recovered and for the alarms where the ID was in the body, that ID is changed to 0: hostname:procs red [0] What I'm being asked for is if we can include the previous alarm ID, so that they can more easily correlate the alarm/recovery pairings (and perhaps add some automation to the mix). So, I ask...is there something I can configure to make this happen or is this a coding change? If the former, what do I need to do to make it happen? Spurious purple messages

Hi all Since Friday September 4, I've started receiving "stopped reporting (PURPLE)" messages for all tests on all hosts from one of our Xymon servers. The host status, as shown in the Main View, is green for all hosts and tests. No purple at all. The "stopped reporting (PURPLE)" messages are being sent at the same time every day, 1:45PM. Any advise on how I should track this down? Thanks

Cannot link with SSL Library

New installation of Xymon 4.3.21 on OpenSUSE 13.2. Xymon won't compile with SSL support even though I have OpenSSL and libopenssl-devel installed. When I run "openssl version" it says OpenSSL 1.0.1k-fips. Here is what I see when I run ./configure: (note: I also tried running configure.server with -sslinclude and -ssllib). When I run "openssl verions -a" I don't see gcc listed under compiler. I see "-I. -I.. -I../incluse -fPIC" etc. I may have installed gcc after openssl, but gcc is installed. Checking for OpenSSL ... My twitter style alerts are not alerting me when there is an alert. LDAP test will not use nonstandard port

Hi all, I'm running an LDAP test against an Oracle LDAP server from xymon using this configuration: ldap://oud1.example.com:1389/DC=example,DC=com "ldaplogin=cn=admin:password" That test is failing with the error that it cannot contact the server. Organizing alerts.cfg - any good ideas?

We're getting to the point where our alerts.cfg is a bit awkward, with lots of exceptions Does anyone have any way of organizing alerts.cfg that they really like?
