Hi, I'm having a lot of trouble with the xymonsend.ps1 script. I've got a VB script that creates a file with a first line that looks like this, status fully.qualified.hostname.tserv_proc green 11/09/2015 13:45:00 and I'm using the following command to send it to my Xymon server, C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe -NoLogo -NonInteractive -File "C:\Xymon\Xymonsend.ps1" XymonServe @ "C:\Xymon\tserv_proc" If I run the command from a powershell prompt as .\xymonsend.ps1 XymonServe @ "C:\Xymon\tserv.proc" then it seems to not like the @ (my fake hostname is the same length as the real one) PS C:\Xymon> .\xymonsend.ps1 XymonServe @ "C:\Xymon\tserv_proc" Unrecognized token in source text. At line:1 char:28 + .\xymonsend.ps1 XymonServe <<<< @ "C:\Xymon\tserv_proc" + CategoryInfo : ParserError: (:) [], ParentContainsErrorRecordEx ception + FullyQualifiedErrorId : UnrecognizedToken If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. Adding client tests to the xymon server

I'm sure this has been asked and answered a million times, but my Google-Fu seems to a bit off to find the answer (I'm blaming the three day weekend :) So, normally, I add a test to clientlaunch.cfg to get it running on the local machine running xymon-client. This does not seem to be working on the Xymon server itself. I have a few local network and other tests that I run on all servers and want to run them on the server too and adding them to the normal client config file isn't working. What is the procedure to add local client tests on the server? Thanks! Skadz

Reference in URL is incorrect

So I figured out the root of my issue but not sure how to fix it. In short when trying to view a graph the host reference is not the FQDN for the server but only its name. host=name where is should be host=fqdn. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks, Blake

xymon 4.3.17 xymon server runs on a centos 6.5 system. Its installed under a user account of hobbit. For GUI admin purposes (eg enable/disable/acknowledge alerts) we've used the standard unix account ie hobbit. Our Ops manager has asked if the ops can have a separate account for these GUI admin purposes... I guess so they can't be accused of breaking anything as the hobbit user! Firstly I'm not sure this would actually change anything - presumably any such second admin account would in effect need to have the same permissions etc as the hobbit account? Secondly - i can;t find how to add a second administrator account on such a linux system xymon server ... any pointers, advice and thoughts gratefully accepted. cheers Ian

LOG issues

I have a problem with a named exiting occasionally. In an attempt to alert myself when it happens, I placed the following in my analysis.cfg... LOG %/var/(adm|log)/messages "%named%general%exiting" COLOR-=yellow ...yet when the following appeared... [date.time] [host] named[9999]:daemon.notice<99>: general: exiting ..nothing happened. I even restarted xymon, waited for a new occurrence, and it still didn't turn yellow. Am I wildcarding correctly, or is there a better way to find this line? Thanks, David

Hey, I think I'm seeing the same thing on Solaris with 4.3.21 I've ended up here after a customer let me know that email alerts were not working as expected. After a few hours of digging around, I decided that the alert daemon was failing to retrieve hostnames and failing miserably. I am trying to implement "xymon-mysql-counters" by ZeWaren which I found on github https://github.com/ZeWaren/xymon-mysql-counters. I have followed the directions adding "xymon_mysql_counters.pl" to the ext directory of clients and updated the mysql login information. I have verified that the appropriate user account is able to execute the script with 755 permissions and manual execution of the script works. Updates to clientlaunch.cfg have been configured as well. The client was restarted after this work was completed. On the server I have updated graphs.cfg on the server under etc/ appending graphs.cfg from github to the end of the file. Server side a mysql column is now present, however only a "no data" icon is present. Reviewing the returned client data shows there is no "[mysql]" section. My setup is a pull configuration using memcache. Thanks in advance for all help to get this working.

devmon cisco 3800 template

I have some Cisco 3845 routers that we monitor with devmon. Devmon correctly identifies them with the Cisco-3800 template, but we don't get fans, power, cdp, or vpn. We aren't using the VPN on these routers. Could that be an issue? I have the Jan 22, 2011 template for it. Manually doing an snmpwalk shows that the oids are correct. purple problems

Hey all, This is probably an old issue but I didn't see a way to search the archives. Our xymon server is showing purple indicators for two of our custom scripts but only on a handful of systems. I've found differences in file location, file ownership, UID, GID, etc.. but so far none of that seems to be the problem. The custom script checks raids. Strangely, all of the stagnant hosts show the same three disks entries from mid-July no matter how many disks they really have. Unfortunately I don't know what may've happened in July; that was before I started working here. I suspect the xymon-client software was copied from a live system, including the old status reports, but in so doing something wasn't re-configured correctly for the new systems. Even stranger, at my urging the Lead SA undisabled the purple notifications. I was expecting the page to go purple but it remains green even though the page isn't updating. At the bottom of the incorrect raid report page there is a link to "client data". If I follow the link I get a full report *including the correct,* *current raid information*! I think this means that the client is capturing the correct data and sending it to the server, the server is actually receiving the report, but after that the raid report isn't being handled correctly. Other systems display as expected. So far I haven't found anywhere on the server that the purple systems are configured or handled differently. I doubt we're the first to experience this problem. Does this sound familiar? Thanks in advance for any hints you can provide for where to look next. WLR
