Hello, A change to how our DNS is configured has caused the DNS test on xymonnet to reach around 50 seconds. Combined with the other tests, the total time exceeds the time limit (60). Because of this, xymonnet has been alarming for a very long time. Is there any way I can adjust the time limit to account for this? (Bring it up to 80 instead of 60 for example) Here is our xymonnet section of tasks.cfg: [xymonnet] ENVFILE /usr/lib/xymon/server/etc/xymonserver.cfg NEEDS xymond CMD xymonnet --report --ping --checkresponse --dns-timeout=5 LOGFILE $XYMONSERVERLOGS/xymonnet.log INTERVAL 1m Any advice would be appreciated. XymonPSClient and updating

Hey guys, I have been using the XymonPSClient for a bit now and replaced a lot of BBWin instances. Since there have been new versions of the PowerShell client released since I started, what is the best way to get the old PS clients updated? I know that I may need to go back and touch each of the existing servers, but is there a way with the updating feature to have it look at a share for a new version based on folder name? This way, I can have all servers look at this particular path for updates and when I want to update, I just copy the file to a folder with the correct naming convention and it auto updates. clarification on xymongen reportopts

I've been scratching my head on this for a while. Hoping for some clarification here: I'm looking to generate a report of status from the "overnight", basically 4PM the previous day to 7AM the current day. I crafted this command, but it's not producing what I'd expect to see: [xymon at lxcobxymonp ~]$ /home/xymon/server/bin/xymoncmd /bin/bash [xymon at lxcobxymonp ~]$ XYMONWEB=/xymon/rep/overnight [xymon at lxcobxymonp ~]$ XYMONREPWARN=99.9999999 [xymon at lxcobxymonp ~]$ XYMONREPGREEN=99.9999999 [xymon at lxcobxymonp ~]$ xymongen --reportopts=1473282000:1473336000:1:nongr /home/xymon/server/www/rep/overnight I know there are some periods were some tests went YELLOW during that period, but I'm not seeing that represented in the report. They show all green. The only time I see anything on the report that isn't green (a number) is if there was some RED in that period. I set XYMONREPWARN and XYMONREPGREEN as high as I dared, hoping that I would see some change... perhaps I'm misunderstanding how this setting works. Erik D. Custom alert mail with script

Hi there I have been working on custom alert script for days, but it just doesn't work. Here is my config in alerts.cfg(based on the man page): HOST=* SERVICE=cpu,disk,memory,files COLOR=red,yellow #MAIL me at mydomain.com RECOVERED #This one works fine. Just wondering if I'm the only one who's done this

I've never ever seen it written up, and I've been a user since the days when xymon was BigBrother (yes, I know they aren't common code... xymon IS the spiritual descendant however) Recently, I started monitoring a remote service that was failing regularly. It would send me an alert and I'd go fix the service. I got tired of having to do the restarts so I looked a bit more into alerts.cfg. Yes, I can send an alert via a script (do that all the time for sms)... Wait... Can that script do anything else? Well, I'll be! I wrote one to ssh into the offending system (key based authentication) and perform simple diags, collects relevant logs then restart the downed service. I have seen a number of times, "xymon/bigbrother doesn't restart things". Thoughts? Concerns? Bueller? Bueller??

Unusual dnsreg behaviour

Hi all. I have recently added in the dnsreg script from the xymon.com site https://www.xymon.com/xymon-cgi/viewconf.sh?dnsreg All appears to be working well apart from I am getting some strange behaviour for a couple of domains. For some domains I am simply not receiving any data back, which is causing the test to show red with the following line of information: Domain somedomain.co.uk expires on Normally I would see the expiration date here, but it simply doesn't show. I have tested the domain using whois on the server, and this all returns fine. So I'm not too sure why this is happening.
