[PATCH] - xymonserver - all ok message - part 1

Hello, This is the first of two sets of patches, both of which are based on the Terabithia 4.3.30 RPMs. Currently when all the clients/hosts report green a message on the 'All non- green view' page is displayed saying 'All Monitored Systems OK'. This message is defined by the XYMONALLOKTEXT variable in the xymonserver.cfg file. However, this variable is also used when all the clients/hosts on the 'Critical systems' page report green. This patch simply separates the two messages into two variables - one for the non-green page (as before - XYMONALLOKTEXT) and one for the Critical systems page (XYMONALLOKCRIT). They are both initialized to the current default, but the patch allows the user to use a different message for each page. (The need for this will become clearer in the next set of patches.) The variable XYMONALLOKTEXT was not previously described in the xymonserver html/man pages. Both variables are now described in those files. Although there are four patch files, they are small and typically only change one or two lines. DISPLAYGROUP in analysis.cfg

I'm seeing very odd behavior with my analysis.cfg*. My xymon server is running 4.3.28 on Solaris 10. What I'm seeing is that trying to define a rule with DISPLAYGROUP (or EXDISPLAYGROUP) does not behave as expected from the man-page. The DISK setting is accepted, but becomes a global value rather than applying to a subset of the hosts. Yet the PAGE rule does work. I have run through many scenarios, and see that the following DO work as rules preceding a setting: HOST EXHOST PAGE EXPAGE CLASS EXCLASS TEXT TIME EXTIME and that the following DO NOT work DISPLAYGROUP EXDISPLAYGROUP I also see that order matters. XymonPsClient: column xymonlog goes purple

Hello everybody, I'm going my first steps with xymonpsclient and I my first experiences are good, it just does what I expect. But, on my first test machine, the column xymonlog has changed to purple, but the xymonpsclient is still running - I cannot see the reason for it to be purple. Can anybody point me to the reason for this? Regards Christian

XymonPsClient: servicecheck as defined in client-local.cfg

Hello everybody, during my first steps with xymonpsclient I have configured client-local.cfg to have this statement: servicecheck:WindowsTestService:60 It does what it should do: it restarts the service WindowsTestService after it hasn't been running for at least 60 seconds. I was wondering that the above doesn't lead to be shown in the svcs column for my test machine in xymon? I know that I could also define a service check in analysis.cfg, but what would be the better way? Regards Christian

Xymongen - clientlog column - bug?

Hello, Using the Terabithia 4.3.30 RPMs, the Xymongen web page shows some statistics such as the total number of status messages, and their breakdown into how many were green, how many red and so on. In looking at the source code where the number of status messages is counted up though, I am a bit confused. The code shows: ======= /* Count all of the real columns */ if ( (strcmp(testname, xgetenv("INFOCOLUMN")) != 0) && (strcmp(testname, xgetenv("TRENDSCOLUMN")) != 0) ) { ======= In other words, this says add up the number of green, red etc messages except for the 'info' and 'trends' columns. This makes sense as these two columns do not test anything, they just report known information. My question is why is the 'clientlog' column not also excluded? It too does not 'test' anything, but just reports the data sent by the client. In trying to work out the number of tests we have I have been checking the '/var/lib/xymon/hist' directory. Looking just at test names, in our case, we have 1165 test results. However, the xymongen web page shows 1215 status messages. By modifying the code to include a count of the clientlog messages on the xymongen web page, this shows 50. Now, 1215 - 50 = 1165. So, as far as I can tell, the number of status messages being displayed is incorrect. It is higher than it should be. I can submit a patch to correct this, it's just a one-line change, but I want to be sure that it is actually a bug. Installation Error on Rasperian Buster

Hello, I try to install Xymon on a fresh installed raspbian buster system. Whenever I install it I got the following error massages: apache2_invoke: Enable configuration xymon apache2_reload: Your configuration is broken.
