Downtime

I've dug through the documentation and searched the archives, but I'm still having an issue with the downtime option. I've only got one device that needs it and I added it as such : ip name #http://ip DOWNTIME=*:*:0230:0630:Scheduled_Downtime The info page displays it properly as : Planned downtime: All days:*:0230:0630:Scheduled_Downtime Yet when I have this in the bb-hosts file, bbtest stops running sometime in the night. Last night it was midnight. A couple of nights before it was 2am. Checking the history.log I see it says "Cannot open status historyfile '/home/hobbit/data/hist/machine.test for several machines, but not all of them. The hobbitd.log shows that I had the DOWNTIME configuration set slightly wrong previously, however it is clean since I removed the line and then updated it with the line you see above (something I gleaned from the archives about needing 2 *s). It's a Fedora Core 6 box running the latest and greatest of everything. Hobbit is all it does, it's got mrtg and bb-xsnmp running as well. Does anyone have any pointers on where to go from here ? Use clientchannel to determine status of /proc/mdstat on hobbit server?

Hi All, I've got a shell script that checks the status of the Linux md devices (cat /proc/mdstat). It is currently intended to be run on the client itself (drop it in $BBHOME/ext and add some config to $BBHOME/etc/clientlaunch.cfg). It's a script from the RAID category on www.deadcat.net. Is it possible to have the script installed only on the hobbit server and use the clientchannel to retrieve the contents of /proc/mdstat and let the hobbit server do the test? A new column (raid i.e.) would be preferable. A rule in $BBHOME/etc/hobbit-clients.cfg would be very nice. Thanks in advance! Regards, Dennis

4.2 hobbitd_alert EXPAGE= bug?

Is there a bug with EXPAGE=? When I run a --test it excludes the page, but hobbit runs the alert script. page.log seems to confirm it. I am running 4.2 with allinone patch. Humm. More details as I look into this. I have 4 testdb systems in alert on the page. testdb02/3/4/7. Only testdb03.disk and testdb04.adrian is being excluded. Limiting the number of lines on a graph?

Is there a way to limit the number of lines that are displayed on a given graph? For example, if I have 20 partitions, my graph could quickly become meaningless. custom rrd's and step size?

disk IGNORE rule in DEFAULT section

Maybe I'm just a little sleep deprived, but I thought that if a machine had a disk slice that didn't have an explicit DISK <blah> line defined for it, it would use the rule as defined in the DEFAULT section. However, I have a bunch of machines that apparently are _not_ using the rule as defined in the DEFAULT section. Below is a copy of the relevant parts of the DEFAULT section (at the very bottom of the hobbit-clients.cfg file) DEFAULT <other non-related DISK IGNORE rules> DISK %^/archive[0-9]* IGNORE DISK * 90 95 I know technically the "DISK *" should probably be "DISK .*", but I thought that's how it was by default. Am I just wrong with my PCRE?

Custom graphs again

So, I have a bit of a situation. I have a number of firewalls of various models that I am querying via SNMP for their interface statistics. Some have 6 ports on them, some have 8. Some are named port1,port2,port3, etc. Some are named inertnal,external,wan1, etc. I'd like to get around having to do a custom rrd setup for each model of firewall. in that vein, it would be nice if I can get the data stored in a separate RRD file for each interface (the same way that there is a separate RRD file for each partition on a disk test) so that I can use the file @RRDFN@ and @RRDPARAM@ stuff to work, but I'm unsure how to do that. little help? -- Stewart Larsen -- This sig intentionally left blank, other than this text explaining that if not for this text, this sig would be blank.

Hobbit and Apache

I've added the apache monitoring information to bb-hosts, but am only getting data for the 2nd trend (apache1-Apache Workers). Problem of value in the graph

Hello I'm using hobbit 4.2.0. I did a custom graph. the problem is that the value in the graph is different that the one given by the script ! The value "current" is above or below the good value.
