Hostname in tree but no hostinfo

In our hobbitd.log we have several messages stating: "Hostname '<various>' in tree, but no hostinfo." This is in a migration from bb to hobbit, and all 22 hosts mentioned are no longer in the bb-hosts file. I have used 'bb 127.0.0.1 "drop <hostname>"' in an attempt to get rid of it, but no success. So our hobbitd column sits at yellow. Has anyone seen this problem before? My search of the mailing list only revealed one message with it that was seemingly never answered (probably because the gentleman slipped the question into another unrelated thread). Hobbit presentation at the "Linuxforum 2007" conference (Copenhagen)

send test email every day at fixed time

Hello Everyone, I am a converted BB user (hobbit is so much easier and configurable) but one thing that I recall from my previous life with BB was a script and / or configurtaion in the alerting that sent a test alert out every day at the a fixed time so we could check that the alerting mechanism was sound and functioning. Any ideas how I could do this under hobbit? I was thinking about writing a rule in hobbit-alerts.cfg that for a specific test on a specific host send an email out when the color is green and the time is *:1700:1705 (and Duration>0). This, in my opinion, is a little clunky as the test will look like it came from a valid host that was green - anyone have a method that they use for this or any good ideas on how it could be done so I don't need to fake an alert? Downtime question

Can you do anything with downtime to do the first Saturday of the month or anything like that? The docs appear to say that you can't. We have a couple servers that have monthly maint windows like that. Currently we use a cron job to "disable" the tests during the window, but I'd love to use downtime instead. -- Stewart

Trouble with enable/disable from web interface

I just applied the all-in-one patch and re-installed hobbit and now the enable/disable function doesn't work from the info web page. I can disable using the command-line, but I can't find where that information is stored. I looked in .../hobbit/data/disabled, but there is nothing there. I'm assuming it has something to do with permissions, but have found nothing in the log files for hobbit nor for apache. It was working before, I'm sure. I even changed the ownership and modes on the .../hobbit/data/ disabled directory to www:www and 775, but that didn't help. Any clues? Thanks, Steve Holmes Purdue University

More Downtime issues

This is getting really annoying. I added another DOWNTIME setting for a different machine. This morning I came in early to find the system had died again. The only entries I'm finding in the logs are the history.log that shows unable to access the historyfile for any of the systems. Restarting hobbit does the trick, and it always happens right around when an enable or disable is scheduled via downtime. The error makes it seem like the files are just flat locked, I don't know if there's something in hobbit locking them all open or what. Is there anything I can do to help troubleshoot this further ? I mean I've checked all the logs, half of them haven't even had any logs added in weeks (no errors), others have some benign warnings (such as not able to find the disabled directory from bb-xsnmp), but nothing showing issues except the history side. Environmental Monitor

I am looking for a good Environmental (multiple temperature and humidity from all over the room are the main things I am looking for) monitor that works with hobbit. Does anyone have a suggestion for such a device that works well with hobbit and willing to share setup information? Not receiving recover notices

Hi, I want to be alerted when cpu goes red, and have a recover notice when it's not red anymore. I'm getting alerts fine, but no recovers when cpu goes red->yellow->green. But i do get recovers when cpu goes red->green directly. Should i includ "yellow" in OKCOLORS (hobbitserver.cfg) ? Olivier
