Xymon client for AIX 7.1

Hi, We're running an old Hobbit client on AIX machines that was built several years ago. We're experiencing problems with the memory reporting (similar to http://lists.xymon.com/archive/2011-June/031950.html) I'd like to try an updated client but I'm not comfortable with compiling on AIX, so was hoping someone has already done this. Is there somewhere I can obtain the executables? Thanks, Malcolm

CLASS question

Can a client belong to more than 1 class (defined in the hosts.cfg file)? CLASS=db,clientA,windows,etc I am guessing the answer is no but figured I would ask. The Terabithia RPMs have a systemd unit file included. I have created the following systemd file. This works to stop/start/restart/status/reload xymon except for dbcheck. I see this in the logs and dbcheck fails to connect to any DB instance: Thu May 31 13:49:19 2018:ERROR: ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified (DBD ERROR: OCIServerAttach) I also created a global environment file which didn't help. /home/xymon/server/bin/xymon.sh always works, systemctl restart xymon always fails to have dbcheck.pl to work as expected. Perhaps I should be using something else to monitor Oracle instances? Xymond Bogus/Timeouts

Hi all, Any idea what the Bogus/Timeouts message means in the incoming messages section of the xymond column means? Timeouts, yes sure that makes sense, but the word Bogus? Is this indicating that the timeout alerts I have started receiving the past few weeks for a specific server are actually a false positive? Any thoughts would be great

I wrote a quick python script. cmd = "{BB} {BBDISP} \"status {NODE}.MemoryUtilization {COLOR} str({NOW}) {MSG} \"".format( BB = os.environ["BB"], BBDISP = os.environ["BBDISP"], NOW = datetime.datetime.now(), COLOR="green", MSG="Widgets loaded successfully.", NODE="server01") I ran /usr/lib/xymon/server/bin/bbcmd so I can get to the xymon shell, I was able to verify that the BB environmental variables were there. When I ran the script, it didn't error but it didn't populate the nongreen.html as expected when a new test is executed. Any help will be appreciated.

How to get Windows Update info from client

I've got the XymonPSClient installed on a number of machines and was wondering if the client gathers any info regarding Windows Update status/history/pending/etc. I've searched the 'clientlog' and there's no mention of Windows Updates anywhere. Does anyone have a way to view Windows Update info from clients? Thanks, *Kris Springer*

Variables in config files

Hi everyone, Is there a way to define a line or part of a line as a variable in the config files, then use that variable in other places, other than the .default line? I know it's possible in alerts, but how about hosts.cfg and hosts.d/*, or analysis.cfg and analysis.d/*? For example, like this: $DOWNTIME='DOWNTIME=*:6:2200:2359:Scheduled maintenance,*:0:0000:0400:Scheduled maintenance' 0.0.0.0 test1.lzb.hq # $DOWNTIME 0.0.0.0 test2.lzb.hq # $DOWNTIME Yes, I realize I could use the .default line, but I can't set that once then have that available everywhere. If I change it later in the config then it won't be available to the rest of the config yet to come. For the variables I'd like to be able to set the variable and have it available throughout the entire config. That way I only have to change it in one place. Right now I have the .default line duplicated many times in my config, and if I have to make a change to them all it starts to become a lot of work. Thanks!
