Hobbit SNMP Trap

Hi All, I want to configure Hobbit to receive SNMP Traps from a third party enterprise NMS tool. I also want to have results of these traps displayed in Hobbit. Has anyone ever worked on anything like this? Thanks for your anticipated co-operation. Hobbit : Status not Available

Hi Henrik, I am encountering this problem "Status not avalable" when I click on green icon like http,bbgen,conn,hobbitd. The cgierror logs is: hobbitsvc connect to bbd failed - Permission denied hobbitsvc Whoops ! bb failed to send message - Connection failed but in info and trends column is working fine. I checked the bb-hostsvc.sh in /usr/libexec/hobbit/cgi-bin and it is own by root with rwxr-xr-x permission. hobbit: How to change the default client port number?

I can't find the information which I need in the list archive. Please help me!!! thanks! Hobbit version: 4.2.0 I change port 1984 to 1937 on hobbit server for Big Brother was running on port 1984. change file hobbitserver.cfg: BBPORT="1937" change file hobbitclient.cfg: BBPORT="1937" It is work on hobbit server. But other server I have changed BBPORT in hobbitclient.cfg on client, but it arrived nothing on the server, only conn is well.

Can the main Hobbit entry page be organized into sections?

Hello Henrik, Is the bb-hosts file at http://www.hswn.dk/hobbit-cgi/viewconf.sh the same one that creates the main entry page at http://www.hswn.dk/hobbit/bb.html? I'm trying to figure out a way to organize the main Hobbit entry page (or any page of subpages) into sections, something like this: Infrastructure -------------- DNS (green dot) Security (dot) VPN (dot) Development ----------- Source code (dot) Build servers (dot) QA (dot) On pages full of hosts, I can use the "group" tag to organize the hosts into sections. But on the main entry page, is there a way to organize the pages/sub-pages into sections? You seem to be trying to do that at http://www.hswn.dk/hobbit/bb.html, with a section called "Pages Hosted Locally" and another section below called "Remote Status Display" (though I understand that's a host and not a subpage). I can't see anything in the bb-hosts file that says "Remote Status Display", so I confess I'm not sure how that part is getting displayed on the entry page. Feature request: SSL/TLS client/server negotiation

The subject pretty much says it all :) The top item on my hobbit wish list is to see some sort of client/server authentication & encryption. This will take care of three of my largest hobbit worries/problems: 1. Having to poke a hole in my hobbit server's firewall every time I add a new hobbit client. 2. The possibility that someone might compromise one machine running a hobbit client and use that machine to send false reports or DOS the hobbit server. 3. Prevent tender bits of info (such as my log files) that would otherwise traverse the network unencrypted. Of course, this would break a lot of existing scripts (devmon, bb-xsnmp, etc); perhaps it would be possible to have the secure server listen on a different port? I know I could do all of this with stunnel, but that's one more thing I'd have to install and setup (and one more thing that could break) on all of my hobbit clients. Plus, there's always the laziness factor :) Food for thought. -Eric

Netstat rrd error updating

Searched the archives and found other mentions of this error but no solution. I have a Solaris 8 server with the Hobbit client reporting to the Hobbit server, and everything works except the netstat trend graph. call for monitors

Alrighty, Until I can wrap some order around it I'd appreciate it if you'd send me you Hobbit monitors or the links to your project page so I can start making them available...I'll refine the process later...The Shire has remained stagnant too long... Once recieved, I'll try to put something together on each one for the web pages...please include OS, instructions and contact info...if you send a script please subscribe to theshire-developers as well so users can send general queries for the scripts there. I'm also still hoping for explicit tutorials for creating: Monitors Monitors with graphing (NCV) Monitors with graphing (external scripts) I know there is a fair amount of info out there already in the mailing list archives and on Henriks site but I'd like to have this site be the one stop shop for all things monitoring script related (initially I may just provide links to Henrik's pages but would like to extend what is already there)...this is one thing that was always missing from Big Brother (it's not really all that hard and the basics are there already but I had to dig through quite a bit of documentation to roll my own) (also, Henrik's decriptions are much more complete than BBs). =G=

Iostat graphs missing line data

Hi all, Hobbit Server 4.2.0 + all-in-one on RHEL 4 BB19c client sending iostat-bf.sh as STATUS Iostat graph shows up on the web page and the cur,max,min and avg fields all show data greater than 0 for the root and apps disks but no lines on the graph. Other similar clients might show one or two points on the graph, but for the most part thy're blank. Any assistance would be appreciated -Grs- Gregory R Shea EMC Corporation
