I would suggest to use a gcc and gmake to compile hobbit. I have compiled hobbit on hp-ux 11.11 without problems. _____ Von: Camp, Neil D. Hello, I try to graph the result of CPU tests (from network boxes). It's working well but I have a problem of scale. There is a factor of 100 missing. The data that I receive is good (I display it into the result test) but when the CPU is at maximum (100%), I see 1.0 on the graph. Here the configuration of "la", I use that to graph the CPU. TEST2RRD="cpu=la,...." ... With others CPU test on Windows servers, I have the same problem. With some Unix servers, it's work a little bit more on some servers. Do you have a solution to help me ? Questions on "howtograph.txt"

Hi Henrik, I have been attempting to implement NCV graphing in hobbit, on version 4.1.2 and have run into a few problems/questions: First, the question: In the "slab" example, you custom test sends the string "inode_cache" but in your NCV_slab entry in hobbitserver.cfg, you have "inodecache:GAUGE". How does this work??? Second, the problem: We have a custom test which checks printer toner levels by going to the web page of the printer with lynx. Our test, called "toner" sends data in the format: lj102.toner black : 67 cyan : 56 magenta : 78 yellow : 43 The data does go into the rrd, but does not appear in the "<last_ds>" field, as in your slab example, but rather in the <value> field. Our graph shows up, but there is no data in it. I'm fairly sure that the graphs will work once the <last_ds> field is populated, but not sure where I made a mistake. Any thoughts? PS: I have been a BB user since 1999, and moved our servers to hobbit last Fall. We absolutely love it. Thanks Henrik! Custom RRD script

Hobbit Folk, I have been struggling with the custom RRD capabilities in the latest version of Hobbit. I think I've found the issue -- if custom tests are listed in the TEST2RRD variable, then those tests are not forwarded to the test-script for action. Has anyone else noticed this? I've been through the source and can't find a reference to the TEST2RRD environment variable (but I am not much of a C programmer), so I can't verify/validate this behavior. But I have verified it by adding/subtracting my custom tests to the TEST2RRD variable and watching my debug output. Also, based on some recent mail, I think I know where to look now... Can anyone comment on this? I would really like to be able to include my custom RRD graphs on the status pages... I am using Solaris 8 on SPARC, Hobbit version is hobbit-4.1.2p1. GLH

Hi All How does hobbit/bbtest-net use to get the dns query output? I am not using the --no-ares hook. I thought it uses dig @server host, but I am probably wrong about that. Graphs in trends column

Hi, I changed the GRAPHS variable in hobbitserver.cfg: "# This defines which RRD files to include on the "trends" column webpage, # and the order in which they appear." The graphs are indeed not displayed in the trends column when you change GRAPHS. However, if I remove "memory" from the GRAPHS variable, the memory graph is also not displayed anymore on the memory column webpage. And that last thing is not really what I wanted. Stef

Graphing help needed

Hi, i still have the problem that with our hobbit we are unable to generate more then de daily graph. Plese feel free to bash us for stupidity or maybe helb us with an easy way to get this problem solved. We tried to deinstall and started from scratch. So there ist in the "configure.server" one config line, where you set the wanted graphs. ***The Hobbit history webpage by default displays a 1-day ***graph of the history. It can also show a 1-week, 4-weeks and ***1-year graphs, or any combination of these. ***Which graphs to show by default (1d/1w/4w/1y/all) [all] We would like to have all (so against the starting lines) hence we said YES to all... But this does not work! Only the daily graph is displayed :( Digging in the Makefile and redoing the setup, leads to the following difference: using: Which graphs to show by default (1d/1w/4w/1y/all) [all] <return> --> results # Default history graph setting HISTGRAPHDEF = -DDEFPIXELS=960 -DDEFBARSUMS=15 using: Which graphs to show by default (1d/1w/4w/1y/all) [all] 1d/4w <return> --> results # Default history graph setting HISTGRAPHDEF = -DDEFPIXELS=960 -DDEFBARSUMS=5 Are we right that the Variable: "-DDEFBARSUMS" is the point to fiddle with? bb-host include problem

I am running hobbit 4.1.2p1 on a Solaris Sparc. I want to monitor my entire clients to determine if that are up and connected. With a script I created a file of all clients for each subnet from a database that includes all hosts. I run this when I add or remove hosts in the database. I then added an "include filename-of-clients" to the bb-hosts. The following is an example of the include file. 128.999.3.40 abel.xxx.yyy.edu 128.999.3.39 agnesi.xxx.yyy.edu 128.999.3.212 ahlfors.xxx.yyy.edu 128.999.3.91 apostol-lp.xxx.yyy.edu 128.999.3.26 archimedes.xxx.yyy.edu My bb-hosts looks as follows page subnet3 Subnet3 include /homes/bb/hobbit/bb-host-include/bb-host-list-3 The web page is created for the clients and it has "conn info trends" header for each client. Clients that are not pingable are marked red. I also have entries in the data/rrd/hostname.domain.edu. PROBLEM: The problem is that when I click on any icon for a host, I get a page that says "No such host". What have I forgotten?
