[hobbit] Users / Procs Graphing problem

Henrik, Thanks for this, the data is actually coming via my own modified client, the data is correct before anyone asks. What I've done is taken the Nagios client as we have extensive nagios monitoring, added a couple of new checks to it and written an ext script that connects to the specified servers, runs the new checks and then sticks the data into Hobbit. We have multiple environments some firewalls some not etc etc so it's the best allround solution I could come up with. I'll pull the data at the client side and see if I can tell whats going wrong. Could it be that you are rebooting these servers once a day ? (I know, Unix folks rarely do that - but just in case). Is this with the Hobbit client, or the BB client reporting data ? Since it always happens on the same time for a given server, it would be interesting to see what messages are fed into Hobbit around that time. If you are running the Hobbit client, could you setup a cron job to fetch the client data around that time ? It should run something like wget http://hobbitserver/cgi-bin/bb-hostsvc.sh?CLIENT=bad.client.name and store the output in a file where you can look at it later. Best thing would be if you could run this every minute for 15 minutes around the time this problem occurs. If you are running the BB client, the interesting part is the "cpu" column data that is sent around that time. All, Long term bigbrother user, new hobbit convert. I'm building some monitoring solutions at a place I'm working and during this have noticed an issue with one of the rrd graphs that I can't figure out.. Everyday at a specific time (different for each system) there is a 10minute gap in the graph, I've done an rrd dump on the data and it's appearing as a NaN entry. This is only effecting the users / procs graph, anyone got any ideas? If it was effecting all the systems at the same time I might have an idea but it just seems to effect all the systems at different times. [hobbit] changing behavior of CPU-Test and expand bookkeeping

Hi, has anybody already tried this? The load-graph in the CPU-test is ok, but we would love to have the utlilization graph instead. This one is a better trigger vor us. What is needed to change the behavior of the client? In that case is recompilation required? Another point concerning the utilization graph, is an expanded bookkeeping. From "configure" my fading memory told me that i could selct between 48, week, month and year.. shame i selcet only the 48 hours.. Is this changeable without a new configure? And where? I would assume the hobbit-server? Thanks in advance Mathias

http tests for multiple web servers on different ports on the same host?

I seem to be missing something -- maybe not enough caffiene yet today. How do I do simple response tests for multiple web servers on the same IP at different ports? As far as we are concerned (currently) *the* web server is unavailable if *either* component fails to respond. hobbit-clients.cfg default question

In the hobbit-clients.cfg it says this about the default # DEFAULT: Set the default values that apply if no other rules match. # So I added a line DEFAULT PROC sendmail 0 0 And in on of my clients entry I have HOST=hostname.xxx.yyy.zzz PROC sendmail 2 10 I want all my clients to signal if there is a sendmail running except for my mail server hostname. Yet I get two entries for sendmail one for the default and one for the HOST=. On the mail server one sendmail is blinking read and one is green. New System - Graphs not working:

I am currently running hobbit.4.1.2p1 -- the OS is Suse Linux 10.0 running in a VM partition I have been running Hobbit on a stand a lone box running Suse Linux 9.x. All was running great then I was taxed with the job to getting rid of the extra box and putting it on a VM partition. I setup the partition and the new OS copied all of hobbit over and relinked with the new OS and everything is working except the Graphs: I am getting the ALT instead of the graph on all windows; I have checked everything I could think of, no errors in the logs after I relinked. The new OS is using rrdtools -version "RRDtool 1.2.11" instead of 1.0 - on the old OS but the link shows it did to find 1.0 and used 1.2 I have dumped the data bases and see the data and current updates fine. [hobbit] Monitorscripts

This wont be a client side test as it runs snmp checks on the printers from the hobbit server. It looks like it should have a wrapper script to grep the bb-hosts file to find out which hosts are printers as it only runs against one hostip passed to it. (This would be launched on the server in hobbitlaunch.cfg like Rolf showed for client side.
