I hate the Windows event log! Is ther a way to centralize the "ignore message" function in Hobbit? We get hammered with event log messages about every little thing that happens and most are just nonsense noise and trying to go and update 400+ windows servers about what to ignore every time a new event pops up is simply not practical. In addition, it seems the the Win client simply ignores some strings that you enter in the "ignore" field. I already thought of sending all the "msgs" notifications to a separate mailbox but trying to sort through 30000 messages each week is the definition of ridiculous. Any ideas welcome. Thanks Kevin P.S. The idea of deleting Windows has already occurred to me but I think the management might frown on that ;-)

I did!...for just one day. I got a message from some manager who was all hot and bothered because she was not getting timely alerts or updates about server problems and demanded to be put on the alert list! I warned her several times that it might best for us sysadmins to let her know when there was a prob but she demanded to have alerts sent to her pager immediately....so I did as she asked. The next day she was begging to be taken off the alert list! It seem sthat she was kept up all night by her pager and got no sleep! Can't get status messages

I have just one machine that can't connect to the Hobbit server to deliver nessages. Need help to debug

I have a Sol 8 running bb1.9c client. It has multiple interface. I did a route get to find out which interface the client takes to send the data to hobbitd on the server. Then I put the IP of that interface and name (that matches to that IP in the /etc/hosts file) in the bb-hosts file in both the hobbitd server and bb1.9c client. I started BB client and it started fine. I verified that the client can talk to hobbitd server on port 1984. Now I also snoop on the hobbitd server for the client's IP and I see packets are coming in. How do I check for the hostnmae.service that should be showing up in the hobbitdboard, but it is not? Who's using

Hello All, We presented Hobbit to our new director today, in hopes of getting it more widely utilized(he's also looking for a solution to monitor applications running on windows servers on our network, some of which have a serious failure rate.) We have been using it to monitor the UNIX/Big Iron side of the house for about 6 years now, but could never grow it outside of that, for various reasons (free=no support, non-acceptance of unix based products from our windows admins, etc). He really was impressed with Hobbit, and said it's the first time he's seen a presentation where someone wasn't asking for any money and the product was already implemented. During the presentation, he asked who else is using BB/Hobbit. There used to be a client list on the bb4.net page, which is no longer there. So I figured I'd solicit the list to see who else is using Hobbit or BB (commercial or free), to answer the only question he asked that I couldn't. Searchable archives?

This may have been asked before, but there were a lot of threads to go through :) I have gotten so behind on the mailing list, and I was glad to see that the archives are available online. Whatever you are using to generate the archives pages... Is there a way to make it searchable? Also, I just jumped from beta 4 to RC5, and was pleased with the bug fixes and everything else.
