Hi All, I found this but no solution. I think I have the same problem. Current status are green for "telnet" and "procs" but when I look at History they are red since 2005-03-03 and 2005-03-04. And if you could send me one of those history files (~hobbit/data/hist/HOSTNAME.conn) that would probably also help. I take it that the current status shows up as green for those hosts ? Did you check the ownership and permissions on the files in ~hobbit/data/hist/ ? hobbitd_alert --test

Hi all, Just sortof an extension to my post last week about the downtime= paramater being ignored and exclude times passing midnight etc. I have been looking at the hobbitd_alert --test command and using it to troubleshoot some of our alerting issues and had a simple question. Is it possible to specify a time param to simulate what would happen at a certain time of day ? The reason I ask is I don't want to find out the hard way and be woken up at 4am when something that isnt supposed to page...does. Not sure if its capable of doing that already so if so can someone please provide the sytntax. If not then could people possibly voice thier opinion on the idea :) Cheers Allan

DURATION tag

I'm not sure the duration tag is working correctly in the hobbit-alerts.cfg setup. I have tests like I/O and CPU that will spike for a short time and I wanted to eliminate the email notifications for those spikes. I set the DURATION tag for 10 or 20 minutes like this: HOST=$SERVER1 MAIL $SYSADMIN COLOR=red EXSERVICE=msgs,cpu,http,webContent REPEAT=30m RECOVERED MAIL $SYSADMIN COLOR=red SERVICE=cpu DURATION>20 REPEAT=30m RECOVERED MAIL $SYSADMIN COLOR=red SERVICE=http DURATION>10 REPEAT=1h RECOVERED MAIL $SYSADMIN COLOR=red SERVICE=webContent DURATION>10m REPEAT=1h RECOVERED MAIL $SYSADMIN COLOR=purple REPEAT=1h RECOVERED But, it seems that I get the alerts immediately. Clicking on the history button shows it was in alarm (RED) for only 5:00 minutes which would be the default poll time so I am guessing that it was actually in the alarm state for even less that that. Has anyone else had problems with the DURATION tag? Hi, I would like to have a page with the latest alerts (with auto refresh). For me there is a big different if a non-green is alerting or not. Sometimes there is problem with the email2sms gateway then it would be nice with a alert view. Some NOC people prefer to watch a page with alerts instead of emails (SMS) or RSS. And if you can ack and disable test from alert view it would be great. //benny

[hobbit] completely confused

I give up. I am going mad trying to hobbitize BB-Central. Too complicated for a non-author to rewrite without more details. Sorry for those who were looking forward to BB-Central-For-Hobbit version 1.0. Instead of rewriting something I didn't write, don't know, requires BB Client, and think is way to complicated for my feeble brain, I have created HobbitCentral Version 0.1a. In its very early state, it consists of a C program called ipxfer, a script called hobcen.sh, a config file called hobcen.cfg and a data file called xfer.dat. I am deploying initially to my remote HP-UX servers and will figure out how to release the HP-UX version when I am satisfied that it works well enough for an initial release. I have only written free software for the FlightSim community so I will have to learn how to do it for the real world. I will tweak it for Linux after I have released the HP version. [hobbit] Pagesets

I noticed that when using pagesets, the icons in each column do not change from the smiley faces to the diamonds and the other icons. They remain as one type of icon. That is the way it's supposed to work. The pagesets don't know about each other - and they shouldn't, because one of the reasons for doing pagesets might be that you want to hide some hosts from one group of users. For an easy link between pagesets, add a link to each pageset to the "Views" menu. Iishealth

I noticed that when using the iishealth script and Win2003, only "connections" get any data, in both the text and graph area. Is this a function of how Hobbit interprets the data or is this a function of the original script just not fully adapting to Win2003? Anybody got any ideas? Thanks Kevin
