trimhistory error

Hi, I'm running the trimhistory command every night to clean up the logfiles from events that happend more than a year ago using the following command: /bin/su - xymon -c '/usr/libexec/xymon/trimhistory --cutoff=`date +%s --date="today -1 year"` --drop --droplogs --env=/etc/xymon/xymonserver.cfg' Now I found out, that most of the files in the /var/lib/xymon/hist directory are corrupted and that the history of these tests are not displayed any longer on the web page. The first line of the files look like this: Tue Jun 17 12:41:45 2014 green 1403001705Tue Jun 17 12:41:45 2014 green 1403001705 37051426 I'm not sure, but I think that the trimhistory command is responsible for that. Multiple graphs per column

Has anyone gotten the multiple graphs per column to work? I tried using the example in the xymonserver.cfg file but it still only shows a single graph...for example, if I want the la graph and vmstat1 I should be able to add the line: GRAPH_cpu="la,vmstat1" As I understand it, that should give me both graphs when I click on the test. Did I just miss a step (yes, I restarted xymon)? thanks =G=

Clear Ghostlist file?

Is there a way to clear the ghostlist file and have it regenerated? I took a look at it (~/server/bin/xymon 127.0.0.1 ghostlist) and I see hosts and IPs (total of 40) that are in my hosts.cfg file. The ghost clients page in Xymon only shows 6 hosts, which is the correct number. I am trying to implement the unconfigured clients script (https://wiki.xymonton.org/doku.php/addons:unconfigured_clients) and it works well however since the ghostlist file has hosts that should not be there, it makes the display not 100% correct by putting hosts in 2 pages. False disk alerts.

Hi all, We are having a strange issue on one of our Xymon systems. Occasionally the disk alert flags but it is due to a malformation of the data. The alert looks like this, red Tue Sep 22 01:57:24 2015 - Filesystems NOT ok &red 1K-b]ocks (1 units free) has reached the PANIC level (524288 units) &red C (0 units free) has reached the PANIC level (524288 units) Filesystem 1K-b]ocks Used Avail Capacity Total Size Free Space Type Mount Point C 71114748 16071904 55042844 22% 67.82 GB 52.49 GB FIXED N/A but if I then go to the history and then look at the client data it's fine. 00.0% 212 svchost.exe 8 0:00:00 NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM 13248k [disk] Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Avail Capacity Total Size Free Space Type Mount Point C 71114748 16071904 55042844 22% 67.82 GB 52.49 GB FIXED N/A [memory] memory Total Used I've checked to see if there are any strange invisible characters in the client data but can't see any yet we're getting this peculiar alert. Server is Linux running Xymon 4.3.4 (same as our other server) and client is BBWin 0.13. We have the same combination of client/server versions running on our other system and have never had anything like this that I am aware of.

Drive not identified in Xymon and Services are not displayed

Hello, we have some problems after switching from Hobbit to Xymon(CentOS). On some virtual machines (Windows Server R2 2008 Standard) the disks are not identified. For example the drive D does exists on the virtual machine, but it is not showing in the section disk on the main page of Xymon. Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Avail Capacity Total Size Free Space Type Status Mount Point D 0 0 0 0% - - UNKNOWN red N/A ** not found** This is what we have in BBWin.cfg <disk>  <setting name="alwaysgreen" value="false" />    <setting name="C" warnlevel="98%" paniclevel="99%" /> <setting name="D" warnlevel="85%" paniclevel="95%" /> <setting name="E" ignore="true" /> -->  <setting name="remote" value="false" />  <setting name="cdrom" value="false" /> </disk> The second problem is that Services are not displayed. We have the message that Computer has restarted in the last 300 seconds no check is done until the delay is passed. How can we fix the issues? Any hints? Thanks a lot in advance. Combo.cfg questions

I am trying to configure the combo file, in the man pages I read: "The configuration file uses the hostnames and testnames that are already used in your Xymon hosts.cfg file" in the combo.cfg I read example of "AppSrv1.procs" I have files that are being consumed in the agents /tmp folders and spit out an "alc" check to XYMon server. Now this file is being processed round robin among 5 different app servers, and I don't want to get paged by 4 purple message, so I am trying to configure combo for all of them: "if one of them is green, then alc green" my combo.cfg line is: dev1.alc = (dev1app01.engbe.evare.local.alc || dev1xf08.engbe.evare.local.alc) in my hosts.cfg I added this: 0.0.0.0 dev1.alc #noconn however, I don't see the purple or green status combo in the webpage. Is it only for alerts.cfg or should I be able to see it in the monitor page? Gab

Hi all: We use xymon as main systems behavior collector, grapher and troobleshooting tool. But I have some doubts about if the graphics are fine of something inside Xymon or my server isn't working fine.. As you can see on this clipix share http://www.clipix.com/9/share-YSAcXi7_ or attached image. Some nics have pretty much work but as they traffic is plotted over the following categories 12 days, and 48 day it seems that the magnitude ( the total speed) is rescaled. That behavior make us wink our eyebrows since we can't assure which speed is becoming "common". For example look this Monday 0000 bar seems to graph a 250Mbps activity but on the 12 days graph barely shows 80Mbps (that's misleading and confusing). So my questions are: a) are speed averaged ? b) do I have a problem with vertical scale ? c) does the problem resides on how rrdtool plots or internal manipulation of the Solaris scripts? AFAIK, the 48 hours speed are fine and correct. Thanks a lot by any help or input about this questions... PD: sorry about the attachment or link but I can't explain the issue without the graphics. my client and server are Sparc with Solaris 10u11. my xymon server is version 3.4.10 and also the client. -- === T-3 meses... NFS mounts

This is a general/first time question about NFS mounted file systems. If I understand correctly (please correct me if I am wrong), by default Xymon Linux client doesn't check NFS mounts. I had a user ask to monitor a FILE which is on an NFS mounted filesystem. However, after adding FILE to analysis.cfg on the Xymon server, it still doesn't show up for this host (been watching for over 30-minutes and it still says "No files checked". Alarm ID number in "RECOVERED" emails

Good morning, all. Using Xymon in my business environment, we're configured to send alarm emails and recovery emails to our operations center. The emails go into an alarm console, so that the NOCC has a single pane of glass for the initial alarms. I was asked, this morning, and am noticing this behavior for the first time. When Xymon sends out yellow or red alarms, there is an alarm ID number in the subject, a la: Xymon [137502] fqdn.domain.com:http CRITICAL (RED) or in the body, a la: hostname:procs red [445232] But when the alarm recovers, the alarms that had the ID in the subject do not include that ID in the recovery email: Xymon fqdn.domain.com http recovered and for the alarms where the ID was in the body, that ID is changed to 0: hostname:procs red [0] What I'm being asked for is if we can include the previous alarm ID, so that they can more easily correlate the alarm/recovery pairings (and perhaps add some automation to the mix). So, I ask...is there something I can configure to make this happen or is this a coding change? If the former, what do I need to do to make it happen? Spurious purple messages

Hi all Since Friday September 4, I've started receiving "stopped reporting (PURPLE)" messages for all tests on all hosts from one of our Xymon servers. The host status, as shown in the Main View, is green for all hosts and tests. No purple at all. The "stopped reporting (PURPLE)" messages are being sent at the same time every day, 1:45PM. Any advise on how I should track this down? Thanks
