I upgrade to 4.3.20 and I'm having trouble hiding the new clientlog column from the all non-green view I have been hiding the msgs column by editing the tasks.cfg file like so: [xymongen] ENVFILE /usr/lib/xymon/server/etc/xymonserver.cfg NEEDS xymond GROUP generators CMD xymongen $XYMONGENOPTS --report --nongreen-ignorecolumns=msgs,clientlog --eventignore=msgs LOGFILE $XYMONSERVERLOGS/xymongen.log INTERVAL 1m I added clientlog to ignorecolumn and when I restart the xymon service the columns disappears, however it appears again within a minute or so. Using XymonPSClient with multiple servers

I have set up 2 Xymon servers (prod and dev) and am trying to test having the PSClient send to both of those servers. In the xymonclient_config file I have both servers listed in the <servers> setting separated by a space (as per the document). The server I am using used to report to the prod Xymon server using BBWin (which is stopped and disabled). The dev server (listed first in config) is receiving the data properly but the prod server (listed second) does not seem to be receiving any data from the PSClient. Any ideas? dbcheck Oracle: Ignoring InvObj ?

Hello out there, i have a setup of Xymon 4.3.11. This setup includes the Hobbit Client for BEA, NetApp and DB. With this, we are monitoring several databases like Oracle, MySQL and MSSQL. Today a database admin came to me asking me if I could configure the Oracle check to ignore an InvObj (Invalid Object). I don't want to ignore the whole test, but only a single keyword of it's result... I know I can configure i. e. a special tablespace in a DB section to override the defaults.... But I don't know the syntax of the things that I want. Can anybody lead me to the point on how to achieve this? I think I have to include a statement in the following section of dbcheck.ini: [ORADB] dbtype = Oracle hostname = databaseserver.my.domain sid = DBSID username = DBUSER password = DBPASS port = 1521 But I don't know exactly what I have to include here... (Sorry, hit 'Send' a little too early there.) Agreed that that's probably something that should be taken into account as well. The key is the principle of least surprise for a sysadmin who's monitoring things. As to whether presuming the system proxy should be used or whether we should assume that testing http://www.example.net/ means testing just that, I'm not sure the answer to. There other big issue, in particular is that there's no specific syntax for *ignoring* a proxy, so before any sort of global override is allowed, there'd need to be a means for that. I must be somewhat dense today but I need to use a proxy server for ALL http requests and I can't tell if I need to use --proxy (and if so, which stanza since this is a built-in server-side test) or if I just set the environment variable http_proxy= will work. I would prefer not to have to add it to all of my http tests individually and it's also not clear if that syntax will work for the "apache=" entries. =G=

Hello, I use xymon as monitoring platform for servers. After upgrade clients to version 4.3.20 they have stopped to send data via cgi script. Last working version was 4.3.17. I think the problem is in parsing XYMONSERVERS variable from configuration file. this works properly in all versions: XYMONSERVERS="http://xymon_server/xymon/xymoncgimsg.cgi" this does not (4.2.18 and later): XYMONSERVERS="http://xymon_server:custom_port/xymon/xymoncgimsg.cgi" The custom port is needed, because I use external SSL layer under http (stunnel). Unfortunately cannot use standard TCP/443. Could somebody fix it? Will be possible use https directly in the next releases? Many thanks Vladimir

(TS) New install of 4.3.20 on CentOS 6.6 fping problem

I just installed 4.3.20 on CentOS 6.6 'xymonnet' is RED on the server The message is /usr/local/sbin/fping -Ae failed with error-code 4 /usr/local/sbin/fping: can't create raw socket (must be run as root?): operation not permitted The permissions for fping in the directory are: -rwxr-xr-x. root root fping Where is 'fping' called in xymon? Should I just use the xymon ping - if so, do I have to reinstall or is there an easy way to change over to it? I previously (last week) installed 4.3.19 on CentOS 6.6 (also running Asterisk/PBX-in-a-Flash see earlier discussions) with no such problems. So I changed out the HDD and started from scratch with the latest version to have the latest patches installed. I again followed the same CentOS installation script install.html on sourceforge.net. Not much use without the 'pinging'. Thanks Tom Schmitt

Is it possible to get an alert only when 'cannot connect to remote server' shows up more than 5 times in last 5 mins? 4.3.20 "description" tag in rss is now empty

False http alerts and delay in notifications

Hi, We are having some problems with our Xymon server. It has happened a number of times, but with long time between (> 1 month). It seems to happen while backup is running on the server, and I am trying to find out how this affects Xymon. It starts with all http tests going red, and recovering after a few minutes. But the most strange part is that notifications are not being sent out until several minutes later. There are also SMS notifications being sent out, even though there is a delay of 7 minutes for SMS, and the alerts were only active for about 2 minutes. I can see in notifications.log that the delay is in Xymon and not in the mail or SMS applications. I do not have any deeper knowledge in the internal Xymon functions, but it seems like the "alert engine" is somehow stuck in a state where there are a number of active alerts, and it sends out alerts for tests that have already been ok for several minutes. I also need to find out what causes all the http tests to go red at the same time. I have ruled out external factors like network, but it might be related to load on the Xymon server. The last time this happened was last night. The http tests went red at 00:08 and then green at 00:10, but no notifications were sent out until 00:19. This entry in xymongen.log might be related: 2015-05-20 00:10:45 WARNING: Runtime 107 longer than TASKSLEEP (60) One more thing that is strange is that if I generate an event log report from the GUI, I can only see the recoveries from red to green, and not the alerts from green to red.
