If it's the first you might want to take a look at the dbcheck script in the following package http://sourceforge.net/projects/hobbit-perl-cl, it works quite nicely but requires FreeTDS to be installed on the Linux/Unix box hobbit is running on to do enable it to connect to SQL Server directly. For the latter you would have to write your own code to store hobbit's data in SQL. Hi , We are planning on setting up Hobbit monitoring for SQL Server . We plan to query SQL Server databases and store this data in a database from time to time .Does Hobbit provide a database ? Can we run custom scripts on the host and integrate it with a database ? Thanks a lot for all your help . Okay, I Added this to the hobbit-alerts.cfg ## GROUP Definitions GROUP=UNIX_TEAM MAIL Team at domain.name FORMAT=TEXT GROUP=DBA MAIL DBA at domain.name FORMAT=TEXT Added this for cat to hobbit-clients.cfg HOST=cat DISK /export/depot 100 101 DISK /mnt/testA GROUP=UNIX_TEAM DISK /mnt/testB GROUP=DBA Now, I want to alert the first group upon the alert going red, then alert the second team after two hours. How to monitor web services

Hi all, I've been reading about xymonnet.conf, hosts.conf, etc. but so far cannot get my xymon 4.2.3 to monitor URLs other than hosts on port 80. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to monitor: - Pages requiring http authentication - Monitoring host aliases (other than by putting another entry in the hosts.conf duplicating an already monitored host) - Monitoring SSL services I can get hosts.conf to monitor port http servers by explicitly adding an http column to the row of headers- is that all one can use? Maybe I need to set up xymonnet? Is there any info around on doing this (I can really only find the man page). Perhaps it needs a guide on how to begin implementing it if I can't find it (?) Hi, Best wishes for 2012 to all ! We noticed that the duration selector will always be reset to min(s) when acking multiple lines in acknowledge.cgi. Acknowledging each line separately works: hour(s) or day(s) selections will be computed correctly. Dominique

Assuming I need a bit of speed for ~/data/rrd can I move ~/data/histlogs and ~/data/hostdata to a much slower USB drive to free up space? ~David

Do anyone have any information on a web admin i could use for Xymon? I have a division that senior management is requiring that they can add and delete nodes but they dont know Linux and I dont want them to have access to the server. Thanks, Dave Garaway 818.383.7249

IPv6 (again)

Hi all, I notice from the archives this was last brought up in August [ http://lists.xymon.com/pipermail/xymon/2011-August/032217.html] has there been any move forward with IPv6 support in the xymonnet tool? If not are there any timescales/milestones of when this is likely to be implemented? It is starting to become more prevalent that we monitor our IPv6 infrastructure and I'd rather not have to move lock, stock and barrel to a different monitoring solution. If it's physical coding that is required to get it up and running then I could certainly take a look at it or see if any of our guys could fill in the missing bits, but some indication of what is needed would be good. displaygroups and analysis.cfg ?

Hope, everyone had a Very Merry Christmas! Short question : I've got a problem with the displaygroup-option and analysis.cfg it still works only for me with alert.cfg .. :-( in the changelog of 4.3.5 was written * analysis.cfg and alerts.cfg: New DISPLAYGROUP setting to select hosts by the group/group-only/group-except text. Does anybody got this option in analysis.cfg to work ? thanks & cheers Martin
