Cannot load file configuration

When I click to view a report on my xymon installation I get "Cannot load host configuration". I am not sure what I messed up. I can see the main page just fine it's just when I click on a smiley face. In my apache logs I see 'Could not connect to Xymon deamon at 127.0.0.1:1984 (Connection refused); 'xymonboard fields=hostname,testname,disabletime,dismsg' All I did was reboot the server. --

Xymon 4.3.5 released

Hi, I have uploaded Xymon 4.3.5 to Sourceforge a few minutes ago, and it will start mirroring out soon. Source-file is available, and Debian packages for amd64 and i386 architectures. New stuff in this release: * the new "delayred"/ "delayyellow" options in hosts.cfg which will replease the "badTEST" settings that only worked for network tests; * the enhancements to the Critical Systems view so you can also see the eventlog for the hosts Performance-wise this release changes a couple of CGI-scripts so they don't have to load the entire hosts.cfg file, which can be quite heavy if you have a large hosts.cfg which may even be split out over lots of included files. And there are some nasty bugs squashed that could trigger crashes in both xymond and some of the webpage tools. The changes in this release: * Fix crash in CGI generating the "info" status column. * Fix broken handling of IGNORE for log-file analysis. * Fix broken clean-up of obsolete cookies (no user impact). * Devmon RRD handler: Fix missing initialisation, which might cause crashes of the RRD handler. * Fix crashes in xymond caused by faulty new library for storing cookies and host-information. * Fix memory corruption/crash in xymond caused by logging of multi-source statuses. * New "delayred" and "delayyellow" definitions for a host can be used to delay change to a yellow/red status for any status column (replaces the network-specific "badFOO" definitions). * analysis.cfg and alerts.cfg: New DISPLAYGROUP setting to select hosts by the group/group-only/group-except text. * New HOSTDOCURL setting in xymonserver.cfg. Replaces the xymongen "--docurl" and "--doccgi" options, and is used by all tools. * xymond_history option to control location of PID file. * Critical Systems view: Optionally show eventlog for the hosts present on the CS view. * Critical Systems view: Multiple --config options can now be used, to display critical systems from multiple configurations on one page. * Detailed status display: Speedup by no longer having to load the hosts.cfg file. * xymongen and xymonnet: Optionally load the hosts.cfg from xymond instead of having to read the file. The bug relating to DNS tests not timing out - see this thread: http://lists.xymon.com/archive/2011-August/032306.html - has not been fixed in this release. I need to do some more digging into why the C-ARES library doesn't timeout the way it should, and what can be done to work around / fix it. Regards, Henrik

Hi ! Could somebody give me an hint, how i can use this script in my enviroment (kerberos authentification at my xymon-server) ? If i execute the script as usual or as cron-job, i've got no information of course :-( Thanks & Cheers Martin

SNMP Polling Support

Is SNMP polling really supported/available in xymon? I recompiled 4.3.4 this morning and successfully created the xymon-snmpcollect binary, but I couldn't find any information in the docs or archives on how to use it. Does anyone have any pointers? I currently use devmon for all of my SNMP polling, but I was interested in seeing what was built into xymon. -dan

Not able to add any hosts to xymon

I finally got the web interface working on my server. Now I am trying to install BBWin on a Windows server and see it appear on my server. I did do a test and it can communicate with my hobbit server. I am adding the IP and hostname to my hosts.cfg file on the server, restarting the xymon.sh service and apache2 service and none of the changes I make to the hosts.cfg is appearing. I do have information in two locations when I was struggling to install it under two different users. Since I am not sure which location to change I did edit both. /home/xymon/server/etc/hosts.cfg /home/xymonuser/server/etc/hosts.cfg --

Hello I'd like to know if the Acknowledge History feature is on the road map of Xymon Dev. This is a feature which will be very very useful and i'm also impatient to see it implemented. Trouble installing 4.3.4

I'm setting up a pair of new Xymon servers for testing. I want to do a clean install of Xymon 4.3.4. The servers are RHEL 6 (and I'm a Solaris admin so ...). I've downloaded the tar.gz file from Sourceforge and tried to do the configure, but I'm having some trouble with dependencies. I installed rrdtool-1.4.4 with yum, but cairo-png and pixman-0.10.0 are needed and I'm dealing with those. Before I go beating my head to a pulp, I'm wondering if there's an easier way. I have looked for an RPM, but have found nothing. I've searched the mail archives and have found nothing saying "for an RPM for Xymon 4.3.4 for RHEL 6 look here...". Or anything even close to that. Any pointers? Or failing that, what do I need to do to get all the dependencies installed. pkg-config is giving me a headache. It is being very finicky about where libraries are located. Thanks!
