Xymon 4.3.5 acknowledge doesnt appear on non-green-page

Hi, I just tried acknowledging a couple of alert on my newly upgraded Xymon 4.3.5 - and no of the acks appears in the bottom list on the non-green page - is there a fix to this? /melgaard

Hi all, I'm trying to monitor a Windows event log for an error, I've got BBWin 0.12 installed in central mode and I've successfully got the eventlogs showing up in messages, However if I get an error from Backup Exec similar to this, error - 2011/09/22 13:30:00 - Backup Exec System Recovery (100) - Error EC8F17B7: Cannot create recovery points for job: BACKUP_SCHED_01_30_SAT. Error E7B70001: Win32/Win64 API DeviceIoControl(IOCTL_VSNAP_VDIFF_STOP) failed. Error EBAB03F1: The device does not recognize the command. Details: 0xE7B70001 Source: Backup Exec System Recovery Despite the fact that I have this, "LOG eventlog:Application %(Backup Exec System Recovery\.+?|Error) COLOR=yellow" in my analysis.cfg file the color doesn't change. Using Regex builder, it appears that the regular expression should match the string but it doesn't seem to be doing so. Has anyone any ideas? Clean 4.3.5 install compatible with 4.3.0-scripts?

Alert script "BBCOLORLEVEL" is red when recovered

Hi I'm running Xymon v4.3.3. I'm using an alert script to create log entries for a corporate alarming system to monitor. When a test fails in a red status, my script gets: RECOVERED=0, BBCOLORLEVEL=red and BBALPHAMSG="red bla bla bla" When the test goes green again, it gets: RECOVERED=1, BBCOLORLEVEL=red and BBALPHAMSG="green bla bla bla" The BBCOLORLEVEL is "red" in both messages even though for the second the state had returned to green. The "alerts" doco/manpage says that BBCOLORLEVEL is "the current color of the status". But it seems to show the color of the status when it first entered the failure status. Is this a bug, or is the doco wrong, or am I mis-reading the doco? A related question: Some tests include a URL in the BBALPHAMSG text (saying "See http://.../") but other tests don't. I can't work out which tests do and which don't. Is there a pattern to this that I'm not seeing? Can the URL be enabled for all alert messages? In all cases, the SCRIPT definition sets "FORMAT=TEXT", which should be including the URL. Here's an example: HOST=%^lxdns01[01]\d\. Hi, Central mode means that you set all your monitoring thresholds through the analysis.cfg and possibly client-local.cfg on the Xymon server. In local mode you configure all the thresholds on the client. Essentially, central mode is the standard Xymon way of doing things whereas local is more like the Big Brother way. This is a fairly simple description but I'm sure someone will be along with the more complex version. Large hobbit-clients.cfg

We have the potential to have a very large hobbit-clients.cfg file. Is there a way to have this use "include" lines to external files, much like you can do with the bb-hosts file? I can't seem to find any reference to this feature in the man pages or the list archives. Thanks, Tom

Preventing color change by time slot.

Hi all, We have a server on which we monitor certain processes, however, these processes are stopped and started every morning via a cron job. I'd like to prevent these flagging as red during this period but can't seem to find any way other than using the xymon command to put the system into maintenance for the duration of the restart. Has anyone found an alternative way of doing this? Compact:

Hi All, Can anyone give me an example of how to use the "compact:" operator in hosts.cfg. Ideally I would like to have a column named "status" that contains the results of the "conn" and "http" columns. But every time I try and implement this and run xymongen I get an "Aborted" message. The --debug output isn't giving me many clues either. Would be really grateful if anyone could point me in right direction. Thanks, David

BUG: HOSTDOCURL in 4.3.5 makes links to groups as well as hosts

Hi, Dont know if its a bug or a feature - but using the HOSTDOCURL in 4.3.5 - HOSTDOCURL="/wiki/%s" will not only generate links to all hosts but also all groups as well, which is somewhat undesirable, in my case at least. Could it be made a toggle? Regards, Carl Melgaard
