Another Newbie question. What is supposed to run after entering URL

OK. I've installed v4.3.0 into /home/xymon. It seems to have installed successfully on Solaris 10 or at least no major errors. The URL for getting into xymon http://svrnam/xymon which points to /home/xymon/server/www. This directory has: gifs/ help/ html/ menu/ notes/ phpinfo.php rep/ snap/ wml/ subdirectories under it. What script/executable/file is supposed to run upon entry by the browser? Shouldn't there be a index.html or similar in there to start things off? Charlie Moore

issues with zoom-in (with some browsers!)

Hi everybody: I'm dealing with an issue with the zoom in on graphics generated by xymon 4.2.3. AFAIK the issue appears "sometimes" on FF3X, FF4X and Opera 11.x but not on IE8, Chrome, Safari, Lunascape6 (no matter which engine I use). The problem is that after hit the zoom-in icon the page is correctly rendered but the zoom-ing area is covered with a blue rectangle. So you can't see the zoom-ing data although the scale is modified. I have attached a screenshot of the issue. To make things worst this issue sometime happens and dissapear after sometime (range time vary). Does anybody suffer this problem? can be a problem with the WebUI? Thanks a lot for anyhelp. Maybe you want: Alias /xymon "/home/xymon/server/www" It is best to avoid unnecessary /'s in Apache configs. (Of course, there is nothing Xymon-specific here) Regards, Buchan

Everything compiled correctly as far as I can tell, at least no major errors. Everything installed correctly into /home/xymon. I've taken a standard apache httpd.conf and added the extra statements mentioned in the xymon-apache.conf. A restart of apache shows no problems with the config. However, when I enter the url http://kaylee/xymon the error_log says: [Mon Mar 21 16:34:05 2011] [error] [client 192.168.69.28] File does not exist: /opt/apache/htdocs/xymon I placed a phpinfo.php into the /home/xymon/server/www directory and used url http://kaylee/xymon/phpinfo.php successfully. So, I am at a loss of where to look at next. The attachment is a copy of the httpd.conf I am testing with. I would appreciate any help given. I'm not seeing any errors because I have not got it to run yet. I look at the files called by the rewriterules in the httpd.conf file and none of the files being referenced by a rewriterule is there? I'm trying to figure out where they are supposed to come from as they did not come as part of the 4.3.0 package. I am talking about the bb.html, bb2.html and just about all the others. Xymon 4.3.0 released

I am pleased to announce the release of version 4.3.0 of the Xymon monitoring software. The previous release happened two years ago, so I can understand why people started worrying if Xymon was dead. Fortunately, that is not the case - and thanks for being so patient with this release. I would like to thank everyone involved in the development - those who have contributed code and patches, as well as all of the users who took time to report bugs, make suggestions for improvements or fix documentation. Also, a big "Thank You" should be given to the people here on the Xymon mailing list, who take time off from their active admin duties to help answer questions from newbies and experts alike. Without you, Xymon would never have become as popular as it is. NTP test runtime increase after OS upgrade

Hi. Today I updated our xymon server from Debian Lenny to Squeeze. After the upgrade, the NTP tests take a lot more time. We have two hosts that we test NTP on, and before the upgrade it took 0.2 seconds. Now it takes 8 seconds. This must have been caused by an upgrade of some of the OS packages/libs. Does the NTP test use ntpdate or some other application from the OS? Should I recompile Xymon after doing an upgrade like this, to link it to new versions of the libraries? /Johan

bb-msgstab?

is there a way to make the bb-msgstab file use the syslog-ng style of directory structure so specifying somthing like <hostname>: /var/log/<hostname>/<year>/<month>/<day>/<logfile>: So that i can run the test on a syslog-ng server for multiple hosts without having the hosts do local logging. Thanks

hosts.cfg and alerts.cfg

Hi all, I use different way to manage my hosts.cfg file. I do include custom hosts file like this : #Site include ./site/hosts.cfg In my "site" folder, I get more hosts again, and I set those like this : include ./site/hosts-srv.cfg include ./site /hosts-sap.cfg include ./site /hosts-usine.cfg include ./site /hosts-net.cfg include ./site /hosts-ups.cfg include ./site /hosts-lab.cfg The issue is when I want to check in my alerts.cfg for page or subpage, all features are set in all hostname. How can I fix this ? David Raymond
