msgs : always green instead of configuring for errors

fi, i am using xymon 4.2.2. I want that each client should show msgs red if lockup word comes in /var/log/messages. I have configured following in following files on xymon server : ~xymon/server/etc/client-local.cfg -> [linux] log:/var/log/messages:10240 ignore MARK trigger lockup ~xymon/server/etc/hobbit-clients.cfg DEFAULT # These are the built-in defaults. UP 1h LOAD 18.0 20.0 DISK * 90 95 MEMPHYS 100 101 MEMSWAP 50 80 MEMACT 90 97 PROC cron PROC /opt/PBS/bin/myscript.sh LOG /var/log/messages lockup COLOR=red i get lockup messages in msgs; but color is still green. How to change the color?

Question about the new rrddefinitions.cfg file

I want to be able to handle 5 minutes of data for the rrd files for the entire 288 days. I used the following in the new RC1 definitions file. # 576 datapoints w/ 5 minute interval = 48 hours @ 5 min avg. RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:1:82944 # 576 datapoints w/ 6*5 minute averaged = 12 days @ 5 min avg. RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:6:82944 # 576 datapoints w/ 24*5 minute averaged = 48 days @ 5 min avg. RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:24:82944 # 576 datapoints w/ 288*5 minute averaged = 576 days @ 5 min avg. RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:288:82944 After only a couple of days, it looks like I am only getting 20 minute averages on the 48 and 576 day average. Is my calculation wrong? I used 288X24X12 to come up with the 82944. My assumption is that I need that value for all 4 positions. Thank you, Tom

Solaris msgs alert not clearing

I'm having a problem with a Solaris client. A msgs alert was triggered over 2 hours ago, and it still has not cleared, even though no new alert-worthy messages have appeared in the message log. Has anybody else seen this behavior? I'm running a 4.2.0 server, I'm not sure what the version of the client is since I don't have access to the box involved (Henrik, it might be a good idea to include the Hobbit client version in the client data). Wildcard in client-local.cfg

Hi, On Xymon 4.2.2, I would to know if I can add wildcard in client-local.cfg like this : [machi*] log:/var/log/messages:10240 Or, at least, [machine1,machine2,machine3,machine4] log:/var/log/messages:10240 Thanks by advance.

Issue with 4.3 RC1

I am doing some testing with the new RC1 release and I am having trouble with the xymon web page. It does come up, but it seems to be adding a /xymon/ in front of the directories so the web is not picking up the stylesheets. TS - ICON Scripting question

I notice that when you have the Xymon icon on the tray or at the top as a selection that the Icon will change to RED, YELLOW, GREEN, etc. depending upon the status of the Xymon system running. How is this accomplished? I am writing a mini dashboard to show what's up. This I keep in the upper corner of the screen rather than the Xymon menu. It is very customized for our environment and I wanted to be able to have the ICON in tray change colors. It has 1 think to do in hobbit-alerts.cfg, watch the primary. If the secondary looses contact with the primary it will run a script. That script is to copy in the primaries hobbit-alerts.cfg file in place. It is put on the secondary automatically with rdist. Also, in the primaries hobbit-alerts.cfg file, there is a watch that looks for a recovery, at which time, another script is run to reverse the process.
