MTIME - File Monitoring

Hi, I am trying to monitor files which should NOT be modified. If have the MTIME parameter setup as follows: FILE /etc/passwd TYPE=file OWNER=0 GROUP=0 MODE=644 MTIME>86400 red This basically means that if the file is modified within the last 24 hours, it should go red... It never goes to any other status other than green. I also have the /etc/passwd entry in the clients-local.cfg file as well\ Any Ideas?

[trunk] minor pb with hobbitd_rrd and mysql (ncv) ?

Hi, I'm graphing mysql with NCV. works fine with 4.2.0 In trunk, i'm missing most of the data on the graph because hobbitd_rrd doesnt seem to be getting the right feed (i suppose): i'm getting 2 kings of logs in rrd-status.log 2009-02-02 23:19:43 RRD error updating /data/hobbit/data/rrd/host1/mysql.rrd from 127.0.0.1: tmplt contains more DS definitions than RRD 2009-02-02 23:19:43 RRD error updating /data/hobbit/data/rrd/host2/mysql.rrd from 127.0.0.1: expected 2 data source readings (got 4) from 1233613183:18022:2:25317:1:... i stopped hobbit (waited for rrd to flush on disk), removed those rrd file, and fired hobbit. mysql.rrd gets created with 2 DS (whitch is what's expected from my NCV definition), but after a few minutes, this same log comes back.. -> i dont understand why the update is having more DS than the create are those log anything to worry about ? 2009-02-02 23:13:42 hobbitd_rrd: Got message 7774, expected 7747 2009-02-02 23:13:42 hobbitd_rrd: Got message 7794, expected 7777 Olivier

Thanks Graeme That was spot on. I check the output file from powershell with dos editor and it had funny characters in. I changed the script to output the file in ASCII format and it is working perfectly now. Thanks a lot for help!! conn test

Hi all, I want to set an alarm when the connection time of the conn test to a server exceeds i.e. 50 ms. Is there a possibility for this? Newbie windows client problem with powershell script

Hi I am very new to Hobbit and thus do not know its ins and outs very much. My server is running and is reporting perfectly and I have several windows clients reporting to it 100% I have a problem with a powershell script that I wrote and I don't know where to start looking. To sum it up, the script just counts the files in some folders and if the count is above the threshold set, output a text file to the bbwin\tmp folder with the status red and then the file count. The file doesn't have an extension and the script does work perfectly and repots the file count correctly. My problem is that the windows client does remove the file as if importing / sending it to hobbit but nothing appears in the web console with regards to status etc. When I copy the text from the file, manually create a text file (without extension) and paste the exact same text in there it's also removed but then the web console is updated with the status etc. so the text in the file is perfect I assume then. I can only think that powershell creates the file in some weird way that hobbit doesn't like. Where can I check on the client or server what actually happens to the file or what is wrong with it when hobbit "imports" it? Hi Guys I tested XyMon on Ubuntu 7.1 and it was not too difficult to install. We are now ready to deploy XyMon into production so I am looking at which Distribution XyMon is the easiest to install and maintain. Getting things to run on Ubuntu was not a major issue but if there is a easier distro I would like to use it for now. Any suggestions? Regards Neil

Hi I cannot find how to configure that monitors im using hobbit , and the status of this monitors is clear. but if you click on them They show information , for example clicking in procs it shows all the process. but msg dont show anything but the message " System logs at Wed Jan 28 10:13:06 CET 2009 : No log data available The client did not report any logfile data " the same with files . Some idea???? regards!!!

Can Hobbit Generate a List of Systems with Low Utilization?

Hi All, I was wondering if it was possible to have hobbit (I'm still currently running 4.2.0 as production) automatically generate a list of systems that have low utilization and or zero user logins over a certain amount of time. Nothing Fancy, just a raw list of systems. In the past we have used the metrics report but this becomes tedious for myself and managers since we currently have so many systems being monitored (1000+). The metrics reports can be used after the fact that we know a system/group of systems isn't being used.
