The Shire is temporarily unavailable. Some weird hardware issue is causing the system to periodically freeze and I won't have a chance to look at it until later this evening. It should be noted that as soon as I can get back into the system, I will be copying the content (or having it copied) to xymonton.trantor.org and setting up a redirect. This location has been offered by Adam and I've been slack about getting it moved over. =G=

Aventail ssl VPN package?

I have a couple of Aventail SSL VPN appliances. It is, essentially, a hardened Debian 3.1 distro. Where would I be able to find a xymon .deb file that would run on it? Exporting events

Mail Alerts

Hi All Once again I have a question. If I want to mail alerts in hobbit how to specify which mail server to use. I can set up the alerts but I cant find where I configure the required smtp server. Very basic but so essential. Help anyone... Thanks a million in advance. Regards Neil

Corruption in hist files

Hi, I have a hobbit server running as vmware guest that changes it's clock at random when you reboot. The clock has jumped a few times to 2010. This gives problems with the hist files. I wrote a perl script to clean up the hist files: - delete lines in the future - fixes the layout so the last number on a line is the seconds between the current and the next line. If anyone is interested, let me know. I think it would be great if the trimhistory utility can do this also. Stef

Hobbit Protocol

Hi All I am interested in developing some specialized services for Hobbit (i.e monitoring M$ SQL servers). Where can I get some documentation on how to communicate with the hobbit server directly? Or in other words how do I get the hobbit protocol specification? Obviously if I am successful I would make this available to all. Regards Neil

Hi, I started playing with xymon's snmp (hobbit-snmpmibs.cfg and hobbit-snmphosts.cfg) Looks like i could get ride of mrtg ;) I would like to know is there is some sort of fancy cgi to view all the stuff graphed in ifmib ? (viewing graphs from a 48 ports switch, using the "trends" column is going to a painful..) Olivier

Question about CPU monitoring on Windoooz Box.

Hi All Just a quick question. I have hobbit monitoring a windows machine running BBWin. The machine has 8 CPU cores. I set up the cpu warning level to 5.0 and panic level to 7.0. The hobbit monitor then issues a warning and turns yellow/red, however when I look at the CPU by clicking the icon it reports the CPU as using something like 06%. What I want to know is the following: 1)The load monitoring in the hobbit-client.cfg is specified in percent thus 10.0 = 10%? Am I correct with this assumption. 2) Does hobbit change status based on the load of a individual cpu core or the total. Thus if one core goes over the threshold does it generate a warning or must all the core go over the threshold? Thanks for the help. Regards Neil "Questions are the answers"
