Check for hosts without alerts

Is there an easy way to check for hosts without alerts defined? I have about 4000 hosts being monitored and some do not have alerts defined. I would hate to have to check the info test for each of those manually. -- Stewart You only lose what you cling to.

Testing for RDP service on Windows Systems

Hello - Does anyone know how to test for the RDP service on a windows system that is not running the BBWin (Or Big Brother) client on it? I've been looking through the hobbit docs (and it is possible i missed it). In googleing for the info I found several hobbit configs out there with an RDP keyword in the bb-hosts file however it doesnt work with my setup (i think I am missing something somewhere..).. hobbit ghost reports

where does hobbit store ghost reports, if anywhere? my goal is to have a shell/perl script scan the file (if there's one) daily for the presence of ghost reports and modify bb-hosts to insert these machines into an "uncategorized", or some such, section of hobbit is there such a file to scan for this in?

Alert problems

Hi, I upgraded Hobbit version 4.1.2p1 to 4.2.0 (CentOS 4 x86_64) with allinone.patch but I'm having problems to set alerts with clusters which have nodes with similar names. For exemple: servername -> head node name; servername001 - batch node name; servername002 - batch node name; ... Before the upgrade, the alerts was working well and th hobbit-alerts.cfg is configured like this: HOST=%^servernameSERVICE=conn COLOR=red RECOVERED MAIL id at email.com.br FORMAT=sms REPEAT=1h The alerts of the nodes are working after the upgrade, but the alert of the head node are appearing multiplied by the number of the nodes of the cluster. I have created a GPL Hobbit module to monitor Flex License Manager. It seems to be working and delivering data in Hobbit under the column flexlm . On the server, the hobbitserver.cfg file has been changed like so: TEST2RRD="cpu=... ... flexlm=ncv" Data is delivered in the RRD file flexlm.rrd The data arrives OK into the rrd file, with the correct number of used licenses in last_ds field with the default data type DERIVE. SO far so good, but for the graphs, the datatype should be GAUGE. So I added the following line to hobbitserver.cfg : NCV_flexlm="MATLAB:GAUGE" I have tested this a few times, being extra careful to do: ~/server/bin/bb 127.0.0.1 "drop jotunn.rhi.hi.is flexlm" as hobbit user then after stopping the server: rm /var/lib/hobbit/rrd/jotunn.rhi.hi.is/flexlm.rrd Start the server a minute later. Then the last_ds field is set to UNKN like in the following example. <rrd> <version> 0003 </version> <step> 300 </step>  <lastupdate> 1211985894 </lastupdate>  <ds> <name> MATLAB </name> <type> GAUGE </type> <minimal_heartbeat> 600 </minimal_heartbeat> <min> 0.0000000000e+00 </min> <max> NaN </max>  <last_ds> UNKN </last_ds> <value> 5.8800000000e+02 </value> <unknown_sec> 0 </unknown_sec> </ds> I wonder if this has something to do with the fact that the output format from my flexlm module to Hobbit is: $AWK '{printf "%.19s : %d\n", $3, $11 }' Resulting in lines like this: MATLAB : 1 Maybe it is the \n in the format string or maybe there should be a space after the number. XML from Hobbit via url

Hi, This is my first post. I have searched the archives and the web as much as possible but cant find anything so please point me in the right direction if this has been covered before. I'm trying to obtain xml from Hobbit so I can integrate the results into other web based projects. I can use the command bb 127.0.0.1 "hobbitdxboard host=AServer" within terminal to obtain the xml output below. [hobbit] http timeout and content checking

I'm not entirely sure I know what you mean by "clickaction", but the URLPlus script I wrote handles the HTTP POST action. The definition would look like this: bctlax04-test;post;;http://bctlax04.unx.sas.com:8080/SASPortal/<http://bctlax04.unx.sas.com:8080/SASPortal/;username_field=> ;username_field=<http://bctlax04.unx.sas.com:8080/SASLogon/index.jsp?username_field=><userid>&password_field=<password>&_sasapp=Information+Delivery+Portal+4.2;<search string> The difference with this compared to Hobbit is that I use 'curl' to pass all the data to the web page. This also has the added benefit that you can essentially copy/paste the section of my script that has the curl command on the command line, and see exactly what is happening. One thing to keep in mind is if the .jsp page does any sort of redirect, it won't work as you expect. My URLPlus script will handle one page redirect if you add the "r" flag (e.g. "...post;r;..." from my example above). I am wondering if I need to graph multiple values and want them to be on different graphs, how do I setup hobbitgraph.cfg to create separate graphs?
