Hi I like the notice option which works fine with the following rule HOST=%(.*) MAIL notify at here.net NOTICE However I am also receiving RED alerts to this notify at here.net address. This email address is not in any where else in my hobbit-alerts.cfg file. According to the man page and I excerpt "NOTICE Rule matches if the message is a "notify" message. This type of message is sent when a host or test is disabled or enabled." I should only get "notify" messages to my notify at here.net address. Am I misreading the man page? Dig

Multiple Hosts of MRTG

Hello, 1. How do I put multiple my $MRTGCFG = ''cfgfile.cfg' in the bbmrtg-pl ? If I out same My $mrtfcfg field more than 2 times it takes the last cfg file only.... 2. How do I increast the no of network connection for hobbit? I have some 150 servers to monitor....how to increase the no of pids. Regards Soumya

Yellow alerts, but no yellow config...

I'm finally trying to get alerts working with hobbit (RC5, no post patches, Linux 2.6.8.1-24mdksmp i686). I'm getting paged on yellow. The man pages don't give many examples, but I think I've got this right. If I don't, let me know what I need to fix, or where to look. Hi All, I found this but no solution. I think I have the same problem. Current status are green for "telnet" and "procs" but when I look at History they are red since 2005-03-03 and 2005-03-04. hobbitd_alert --test

Hi all, Just sortof an extension to my post last week about the downtime= paramater being ignored and exclude times passing midnight etc. I have been looking at the hobbitd_alert --test command and using it to troubleshoot some of our alerting issues and had a simple question. Is it possible to specify a time param to simulate what would happen at a certain time of day ? The reason I ask is I don't want to find out the hard way and be woken up at 4am when something that isnt supposed to page...does. Not sure if its capable of doing that already so if so can someone please provide the sytntax. If not then could people possibly voice thier opinion on the idea :) Cheers Allan

DURATION tag

I'm not sure the duration tag is working correctly in the hobbit-alerts.cfg setup. I have tests like I/O and CPU that will spike for a short time and I wanted to eliminate the email notifications for those spikes. I set the DURATION tag for 10 or 20 minutes like this: HOST=$SERVER1 MAIL $SYSADMIN COLOR=red EXSERVICE=msgs,cpu,http,webContent REPEAT=30m RECOVERED MAIL $SYSADMIN COLOR=red SERVICE=cpu DURATION>20 REPEAT=30m RECOVERED MAIL $SYSADMIN COLOR=red SERVICE=http DURATION>10 REPEAT=1h RECOVERED MAIL $SYSADMIN COLOR=red SERVICE=webContent DURATION>10m REPEAT=1h RECOVERED MAIL $SYSADMIN COLOR=purple REPEAT=1h RECOVERED But, it seems that I get the alerts immediately. Clicking on the history button shows it was in alarm (RED) for only 5:00 minutes which would be the default poll time so I am guessing that it was actually in the alarm state for even less that that. Has anyone else had problems with the DURATION tag?
