I've found that some of the directives in hobbit-alerts have to be in some sort of order. I have had to play with the order of the directives until they were all recognized by hobbit on several occasions. I don't know if this is documented or not, but I find that putting the DURATION> directly after the e-mail address tends to work best. FYI COLOR seems to work best when it is last... custom RRD data

Hi all, Im trying to build my own RRD graphs. I've done my shell-script already, and also I'm aware that I've got to modify hobbitgraph.cfg and hobbitserver.cfg. But im not sure where should I put the --extra-script and --extra-tests options. Should I add another line to hobbitcgi.cfg ? If so, what would be the correct syntax? Thanks, Fabio

Hi I am loving the hobbit-mailack. It works very well. purple/clear problems?!

Hi all, Hope you cold shine a light on this one. I'm running Hobbit 4.0.4 on Solaris 8. I've enabled reporting as follows with macro's in hobbit-alert.cfg: $UNIXDAY=MAIL someone at somewhere.nl TIME=*:0000:2359 REPEAT=1d RECOVERED $UNIXNIGHT=MAIL someone at somewhere.nl TIME=*:0000:2359 DURATION>30m REPEAT=60m RECOVERED SERVICE=!cpu,!msgs COLOR=!yellow This morning I found in my mailbox about 4000 mails reporting stopped & recovered. What happened was that the connection for 'host' failed. I've got 1 email of that event as it should. But mainly, until the connection re-established last night, a bouncing effect for other than the conn-test. I could build a dependancy (don't warn if no-conn) but that is rather annoying since I have many hosts to manage. I just don't fully understand why the other tests are bouncing whereas the conn-test turns off on friday and on last night. See below: ... Alternate pagesets.

Hi ! Testing creating alternate pagesets and it works just fine. I just need to clarify if is not possible to have a special "top" menu present on the alternate pages even if I create a new menu subdirectory with new items on the menu. Also title tag has no efftect on the alternate pages. BR Thomas

Another LARRD issue

Thanks to Henrik for clearing up my previous problem, my bad. I have it working now. My next hurdle is that I have lots of information that I'd like to graph from a single test that won't graph well together... Some values are always in the single digits, some values are in the many thousands. Can I get more than one graph definition to display under the test? The other option I thought of is populating a different graph for each value and using @RRDFN@, but I don't see a good way to group the results in a meaningfull way.

Running hobbit 4.0.4 with only bbnet and bbproxy active I want to have hobbitd startet to handle the relay function and running bbdisplay. When editing the BBDISP="0.0.0.0" and BBDISPLAYS="10.10.10.10 10.10.10.20" all local tests goes fine. I can see in the bb-network log file that bbnet sends status data to both servers. However all client tests are not relayed to the second host. Which process should handle this trafic ? BR Thomas

Hi, I'm trying to push Hobbit alarms up to HPOV NNM (reference what "Guillaume" did in BB (re: http://support.bb4.com/archive/200203/msg00670.html)) However, his method will not work with Hobbit and I'm wondering if anyone has an external script or maybe some guidance that they can provide. Guillaume's solution was to edit line 1227 of bbpage.c to create a community for Ucd-SNMP and recompile bbd as well as making some configuration changes in bbwarnrules.cfg and bbwarnsetup.cfg. There's no need for that silliness. At least in BB. When you want to push alarms up via traps, just list trap-x.x.x.x as a recipient rather than an e-mail address or a pager. x.x.x.x is the ip address of the trap receiver. I'm not sure if this trick works in Hobbit however.
