Hi, I've been asked to try to make alerts only send 2 emals, at most, and still send a RECOVERED message when things recover. As a quick test, I set DURATION<30, and REPEAT=15, and after forcing a service down, for over an hour, achieved the two email alerts - but after bringing the service back up, did not get sent a recovered message. Is it possible to do this? Alan

Content Column problem

Friends, Why my content column shows clear when the test Failed? Failed to get webpage An error occurred while testing URL http://foo.com No output received from server I would like that when this happens a Red icon appears on my history and screen. Any hint? Thanks in advance, Mario.

Back in March there was discussion on enabling "disk1". I noticed that this is now defined in hobbitgraph.cfg. How do you turn is on? purple/clear problems?!

Hi all, Hope you cold shine a light on this one. I'm running Hobbit 4.0.4 on Solaris 8. I've enabled reporting as follows with macro's in hobbit-alert.cfg: $UNIXDAY=MAIL someone at somewhere.nl TIME=*:0000:2359 REPEAT=1d RECOVERED $UNIXNIGHT=MAIL someone at somewhere.nl TIME=*:0000:2359 DURATION>30m REPEAT=60m RECOVERED SERVICE=!cpu,!msgs COLOR=!yellow This morning I found in my mailbox about 4000 mails reporting stopped & recovered. What happened was that the connection for 'host' failed. I've got 1 email of that event as it should. But mainly, until the connection re-established last night, a bouncing effect for other than the conn-test. I could build a dependancy (don't warn if no-conn) but that is rather annoying since I have many hosts to manage. I just don't fully understand why the other tests are bouncing whereas the conn-test turns off on friday and on last night. See below: ... Hi, Hobbit rules. We have a couple hosts behind a firewall and want to relay hobbit data through a control server that is trusted. Reading the docs it looks like I can use the bbproxy binary to do what we need. Question is, can I build just that binary and not the rest of hobbit so it doesn't complain that rrdutil and other dependancies that are not avail? Thanks, Lee

[hobbit] Fedora Core 4 Install

Where would I pass this at? Not a programmer, poked around a little on google for it, and tried setting it in CFLAGS, but I still got the warning. Hobbit does indeed appear to work fine. It was just a curiosity. Memory test

I am still in the setup and testing phase with Hobbit. I am running 4.0.4 on a Suse 9.0 Linux box and monitoring about 125 hosts currently. I have run into a few issues, but overall, the installation has been extremely easy. I am trying to figure out how to get the memory column and associated graphs to show up. Do I need to add an external to do this, or is this functionality built into Hobbit? Thanks!
