[hobbit] client msgs column

I know the msgs function of the hobbit client is not implemented or at least not fully implemented. I have installed the bb-msgs.sh as an external script along with what other files it needs to run. Regardless, it toggle between clear and green every 5 minutes. Is the server doing some processing on the msgs column over-writing my green status? Adding a new tag

Hi all, I call dns,smtp,pop3,noconn,noping as a tag. So, is there any 'how-to' to add my own tag? Let say, my tag is 'roaming'. In the bb-host will be like this (for the host I want to do a 'roaming' test): 10.10.10.10 www.yyy.xxx # roaming I already made the script, but I don't know how hobbitd will call my script. I had already been using the --debug and --log-details options, but the logs weren't telling me much. However it only seems to work when invoked with the --no-daemon switch, which really has us puzzled. I'd like to get it working in daemon mode, but I'm not sure what the issue is here. Oh, and I am seeing SYN-ACK packets coming back from the BB server, but after that there is nothing. I will get you the snoop files for both machines asap, if you still want to see them. I haven't tested bbproxy with a 1.8b server, but I don't know of anything that would make it fail like this. There's really nothing special in the way bbproxy sets up the connection to the BB server - it just invokes the standard "connect()" routine. > Also, is there a way to make logging more verbose with bbproxy? That > might help the troubleshooting. Start bbproxy as a foreground process with debugging enabled. Run it with all of the usual options, plus "--debug --no-daemon". One thing I come to think of ... what's the MAXLINE setting on your BB server (in the $BBHOME/src/bb.h file) ? bbproxy will combine status- messages into combo-messages - if it ends up building larger messages than your BB server can accept, they could end up being discarded. Well after some more snooping, we find that bbproxy never makes a complete tcp connection with the BB server. You can see several connection attempts, but they are never completed, and the data is never sent from bbproxy to the BB server. I downloaded and installed the Hobbit 4.1.2 Snapshot today (8/9/05). It installed on top of the 4.0.4 code no problems on a Fedora Core 4 "Server". I then installed the client on an AIX 5.3 server, and am currently receiving data, and getting stats/graphs. Henrik, I did forget to mention that I updated the security file after I saw rejections from the bbproxy in BBOUT. After updating the file the rejections stopped, but the BB server is still not updating the display. My first guess would be that the IP-address that bbd sees for the incoming connections from the proxy is not listed in this file, which causes the bbd daemon to drop the connection immediately. A few questions before moving from bbgen to Hobbit

Hi Henrik first of all let me thank you for continiously improving Hobbit :-) I'm preparing the "big move" from bbgen to Hobbit on a large production setup, and I have a few questions : - as I'm running Cacti to graph my servers, is there a way to remove the "trends" colum for all hosts ? I've disabled the rrdstatus and rrddata tasks, added TEST2RRD="" and GRAPHS="" but the "trends" column still show up, empty - in the Administration -> Enable/disable page, is there a way not to show the reason of the disabled tests ? With a few hundred disabled tests, the page gets difficult to read - in the "info" page of each host, would it be possible to show tests with no alert rules ? With bbgen they were displayed as "Ex.Services" - do you plan to add file inclusions to hobbit-alerts.cfg, like with bb-hosts ? Tests order

My IT director asked me to change the order of the tests on Hobbit. He doesn't want to have to scroll over to the right to see the "trends" column (I think he keeps his screen resolution really low). The only way I know to do this is to add a "group-only" to each group in which I could then specify the order. But, this also means I will have to always make sure I have included each test in the group every time I add a host. Is there a way to specify the test order globally?
