Hi All Has anyone used bb-disk_by_fs.sh with BB client? I am trying to find out how it will work with HOBBIT? There are few things I am concern about. 1. How will I manage alerts per partition which this script offers? 2. How will the graph work? Thanks for any feedbacks. You can add a noconn or noping to one of your duplicate hosts. But make sure you don't have any additionnal test after the noconn or the message wil remain. ( I don't know how to show some tests on one page and other tests on another). Here is a sample from my bb-hosts : 1.2.3.4 server.domain # BBPAGER BBNET BBDISPLAY hobbitd test1 test2 etc. 0.0.0.0 server.domain # noconn I still use bb client for AIX test, but I'm waiting for the 4.1.2 to be released. [hobbit] graphs with external script

Hi, i'm back from holidays ;-). i'm still trying to graph mysql status with the snapshot of the day (16th august) i've added GRAPHS:*,mysql:mysqlslow,mysqlthread in my bb-hosts. NCV_mysql="Uptime:NONE,Queriespersecondavg:GAUGE" and mysql=ncv" in my hobbitserver.cfg. I see mysql.rrd files but still no graphs... I'm pretty sure that i have a mistake just in front of my eyes but... Anybody has an idea ? Thanks. COLOR=yellow not recognized

Hello. Running Hobbit 4.0.4. In my alerts, I have the following alert: HOST=dclcore SERVICE=aaierr MAIL vhm at deltafaucet.com COLOR=yellow But, it doesn't recognize the COLOR=yellow. In the info column, it's just blank under the COLORS column and doesn't alert either. If I change it to COLOR=red, it shows red. COLOR=yellow,red shows red only. In the hobbitserver.cfg, I have: ALERTCOLORS="red,purple" # Colors to alert on. The command: ~/server/bin/bbcmd --env=/usr/local/hobbit/server/etc/hobbitserver.cfg hobbitd_alert --dump-config shows this: HOST=dclcore SERVICE=aaierr MAIL vhm at deltafaucet.com FORMAT=TEXT REPEAT=30 COLOR=yellow Has anyone had the same problem? http test on switches - fail

Hi all, I've set up hobbit (4.1.1) to check for http, conn and ssh on some switches, but the results have been mixed. All the switches have web interfaces and I can get to each of them via any browser. Some of the lower end switches don't appear to send any identifying information back to the hobbit server. For these switches Hobbit shows a time for the http connection and graphs it, but shows red and no identifying info. Hobbit shows a time, graph and green for the high end switches that return some info about the http server used. Is there a way to flag this http test so it doesn't go red if it doesn't receive anything but a connection time ? Or am I misunderstanding how this works ? Chuck Morrison

alert color triggers

Have a simple rule in hobbit-alerts.cfg: HOST=%.* SCRIPT /usr/lib/hobbit/server/ext/pg/cfrun cfrun FORMAT=SCRIPT REPEAT=10 MAIL bb-pg-oncall FORMAT=TEXT REPEAT=60 DURATION>5 I note that these trigger on a yellow status, in addition to red or purple. I have ALERTCOLORS="red,purple" defined in hobbitserver.cfg. Note also I am using the BB client, not the Hobbit client. Does ALERTCOLORS have an effect? If not, what is the correct format to filter out yellow alerts, and just trigger on red and purple? rrd graphs for bb-xsnmp.pl script

I had a lot of graphs for several routers, ups, etc but they seem to be rather hosed. It looks like the data that was transferred is graphed well but no new data is going in correctly. It seems that any script sending data in a status message is not working. I suspect due to the formatting. One example is bb-xsnmp.pl script. I am using against routers, switches and apc ups. Using an APC ups as an example I get this in the web page: Tue Apr 5 09:23:03 2005 green UPS Temperature: 37? C bb-xsnmp.pl Version: 1.78 but in hobbit/data/rrd/apc1.tigr.org I have: tcp.conn.rrd tcp.telnet.rrd temperature.UPS_Temperature:_37&deg_C.rrd temperature.UPS_Temperature:_38&deg_C.rrd and the graph on the temperature page has no data but two entries at the bottom for UPS_Temperature:_37&deg_C and UPS_Temperature:_38&deg_C This problem is much worse on my switches and routers which have a different line for each sensor and every temperature ever reported.

Hi Henrik I have been scouting around the perl/CGI scripts (or at least that, what I think they are) and I have seen where you set the disk graphs to a maximum 4 file systems per graph, splitting them over multiple graphs as reguired. (I think. What I know about perl & CGI is dangerous) Is there a way you can implement that as a parameter for all custom graphs? Hi all, Few things that we notice : 1) Error during the make install cd etcfiles; ../../build/merge-lines hobbitcgi.cfg /home/hobbit/server/etc/hobbitcgi.cfg cd etcfiles; ../../build/merge-sects hobbitlaunch.cfg /home/hobbit/server/etc/hobbitlaunch.cfg larrdstatus=rrdstatus larrddata=rrddata merge-sects in free(): error: junk pointer, too high to make sense Abort trap (core dumped) gmake[1]: *** [install-cfg] Error 134 gmake[1]: Leaving directory `/root/software/hobbit-4.1.1/hobbitd' gmake: *** [install-hobbitd] Error 2 Workaround : Change manualy the occurence of larrd to rrd in hobbitlaunch.cfg 2) bbhostgrep with the following tags: we have a lot of nokia appliance that we poll for snmp via the snmp script, the devices don't reply for icmp, so we need to have this line in our bb-hosts x.x.x.x nokiavpn # testip noconn snmp when we execute bbhostgrep snmp, it return no value. The only way actually is to put x.x.x.x nokiavpn # testip noping snmp but we would like to not have the conn test (we need testip as the boxes don't have a fqdn) 3) hobbit client About the disk, The release 5.4 got devfs (2 entries show 100%), so the line with df should look like: df -H -tnonfs,nullfs,cd9660,procfs,devfs Not quite sure about vmstat, In freebsd you can use -w for wait -c for count, so should it be vmstat -w 300 -c 2 instead of vmstat 300 2, also the sleep command in Freebsd take argument in second so sleep 5 is for 5 second , was it expected to wait 5 minutes ? SIP & VoIP

Hi All, Has anyone looked into testing SIP/VoIP devices? (handsets, gateways, etc) I haven't seen it mentioned yet, and it's something I will need to consider in the not too distant future (as I'm sure many others will too)! I expect to get a call about it one day, so I am hoping Hobbit will have a place monitoring this too. -Gerard Lill
