Feature Request: Extra detail in history reports

It would be nice to display the number of times a test actually failed when using the "history button" to see historical information on red/yellow alarms. e.g. http test failed for a url. It recovers 5 minutes later. Since I believe hobbit changes it's testing pattern once an alarm is detected, show that hobbit actually tested it 5 (or whatever number) times during that period, and it failed all 5 tests. Reporting question

My boss is getting excited about HOBBIT and has the following question: If I want to run an availability report with the dates 9/16 to 9/23, will the report include 9/23 in that report or is the data up to 9/23 (excludes 9/23). I'm used to seeing "through" a date to include that date's data and "to" ends midnight the previous night. Wasn't sure what Hobbit does. Thanks. turning off the alert module so hobbit does everything except mail alerts

We will be having a site-wide shutdown in the near future and I would like to find a way to prevent a deluge of emails/pages as we recover the systems. Usually, we'd just enable/disable the systems/tests that we don't want to hear about, but that puts every test in a blue color and doesn't give us an easy way to see what each system is doing by simply looking at the non-green view. We have to click on each status to see the "true" color of the test (green, red, yellow, or purple), and that won't be very efficient when we are dealing with hundreds of servers. Is it possible to turn off just the hobbit alert module, so that hobbit will do everything like it normally does EXCEPT mail the alerts? I thought about using a temporary hobbit-alerts.cfg that doesn't contain email addresses or killing the hobbitd_alert process (bad idea I'm sure), but wasn't sure if there was a better way to deal with this. I didn't see anything in the hobbitd_alert manpage that addresses this kind of scenario, so I thought I'd ask. BTW, we're using hobbit 4.0.4. Thanks, Tom

Greetings, In the memory reporting section, the memory agent does not take into account the filesystem caching so does not report the true memory usage. I also ran into this problem with bb-memory.sh from deadcat and here is the commands I used to fix this: /usr/local/bin/top | head -n 4 | tail -n 1 | awk '{print $3}' | perl -ne '$b=$_; if ($b = /G\//) {s/G.+//;$a=$_*1024;print "$a"} else {s/M.+//; print "$_"}' Please keep in mind that sometimes Top will give the memory in MB instead of GB. Also where are the client information scripts stored? For example, if I wanted to change the client backend myself, or add more details where would I do that? Thanks, Adam

network service tests

Is there a way to make it so that if a network services is running but you are checking that it is not supposed to be that it will report back as a warn(yellow) rather than a panic(red)? thanks, Adam

rrd graphs for bb-xsnmp.pl script

I had a lot of graphs for several routers, ups, etc but they seem to be rather hosed. It looks like the data that was transferred is graphed well but no new data is going in correctly. It seems that any script sending data in a status message is not working. I suspect due to the formatting. One example is bb-xsnmp.pl script. I am using against routers, switches and apc ups. Using an APC ups as an example I get this in the web page: Tue Apr 5 09:23:03 2005 green UPS Temperature: 37? C bb-xsnmp.pl Version: 1.78 but in hobbit/data/rrd/apc1.tigr.org I have: tcp.conn.rrd tcp.telnet.rrd temperature.UPS_Temperature:_37&deg_C.rrd temperature.UPS_Temperature:_38&deg_C.rrd and the graph on the temperature page has no data but two entries at the bottom for UPS_Temperature:_37&deg_C and UPS_Temperature:_38&deg_C This problem is much worse on my switches and routers which have a different line for each sensor and every temperature ever reported.

Hi, You should have some infos in the logfile. (bb-network.log) Add a --debug to this line and restart hobbit for more infos : CMD bbtest-net --report --ping --checkresponse Run hobbit.sh reload afterwards and check the bb-network.log. Mail-recipients hobbit-alerts

Hi Henrik! Is it anyhow possible to send an alter-email on multiple recipients so that all the recipients can be seen in the mail-header? with 'MAIL a at c.com MAIL b at c.com' The recipients only see their own address. Something like 'MAIL a at c.com,b at c.com MAIL c at c.com' would be very nice I think. Thanks in advance and best regards Christian Schlüter
