Hi, I have 152 hosts in the bb-hosts file. And the bbtest reports, -------------- Statistics: Hosts total : 152 Hosts with no tests : 0 Total test count : 213 Status messages : 214 Alert status msgs : 0 Transmissions : 4 DNS statistics: # hostnames resolved : 153 # succesful : 152 # failed : 1 # calls to dnsresolve : 213 : -------------- Was hostname lookup attempted against 153 hosts? If so, is there any way (logs or something) to find out the failed host? Thanks, keio

[hobbit] Content Management

Hi, the security to access the hobbit cgi is based on apache security. (if you're using apache as httpd server) so editing your httpd.conf allows you to set some restrictions (ip, etc). The only way IMHO to restrict access to devices is to create htaccess files in the ~hobbit/server/www subdirectories. I don't think you can restrict full access, because when the test goes wrong, the infos will fill the bb2.html page. which info do you wish to hide (ip, name, specific tests) ? Squashing the bugs

I've been squashing some bugs today, so there's now a fresh snapshot available at http://www.hswn.dk/beta/ This should hopefully fix several things: * netstat reports from the Hobbit client on AIX, HP-UX and Solaris should be working again. If your netstat graphs stopped updating and you got errors like "expected 16 data source readings (got 15)" then this is for You. * I've dropped the C-ARES 1.3.0 library for now. It has some build problems on HP-UX that haven't been resolved yet. Some improvements also: * You can now configure disk checks to check if specific file- systems are actually mounted. E.g. if you want to make sure that the /export/customer/www filesystem is mounted, put this in your hobbit-clients.cfg: DISK /export/customer/www 80 95 1 -1 red "80 95" are the usual limits for how full it can be, "1 -1 red" means there must be minimum 1 such filesystem listed in the "df" output from the client, or the status will go red. (-1 is the max. limit, meaning "no limit" - this is if you have filesystem listed using a regular expression). The Changes file has a long list of other changes and improvements done since 4.1.1. In other words, there's something to play with if you feel like trying out the latest and greatest. Now I'll go back and re-scan the mailinglist traffic to look at what's pending for 4.1.2. Hello, I am try to prevent access to certain areas on my Hobbit NMS. I have a couple of devices mapped on it and want to allow certain users view some devices and not all. How can i go about this? Does hobbit require a content management script or something? If i use the config report from a page inside a pageset it work well but if i use it from the first page of a pagesets it will report all the configured object and not only those in the pageset. A simple script like this in cgi-bin/hobbit-confreport.sh: #!/bin/sh exec /usr/lib/hobbit/server/bin/hobbit-confreport.cgi --env=/etc/hobbit/hobbitserver.cfg And then you should be able to run it by picking it from the "Reports" menu. Graph parameters

Hi Henrik I have been scouting around the perl/CGI scripts (or at least that, what I think they are) and I have seen where you set the disk graphs to a maximum 4 file systems per graph, splitting them over multiple graphs as reguired. (I think. What I know about perl & CGI is dangerous) Is there a way you can implement that as a parameter for all custom graphs? DOWNTIME

I'm having trouble with the DOWNTIME setting crossing over midnight. Has anyone else seen this? Below is the setting in bb-hosts along with a snippit of the histlog for host/service (note names have been changed to protect the innocent). Also note that the time in the bb-hosts is in PST while the log is in GMT. The hobbit user has been set to run in the Pacific timezone. Nevermind, I didn't realize that I still had my old BB instance running.
