My hobbit server is in Indiana (US) and we've just decided to start doing the 'change the clock twice a year' shtick again. Do I need to worry about what alerts we'll get when the time shifts by an hour, twice a year? Or does hobbit walk the status messages and re-date them when the shift occurs? Installing Hobbit in Jetty

Hi: I wanted to leverage the use of XUL in conjunction with hobbit, and I managed to get Hobbit installed and running using Jetty as my HTML engine. There were some changes I had to do in the code to get it going, namely changing all the instances from REQUESTED_URI to SCRIPT_NAME in the CGI's and Web Forms, but other than that I got it up and running out of the box. If there is interest for me to write somewhere how I got it going, please let me know. (It might be a long email, before I clog your mailboxes, I rather ask first :) ). Luis Anaya

Dropping multiple tests

Hello - I have a test setup on one of my systems that is not pushing out data quite as I expected. In addition to the column information that I want to keep, it is adding columns on a random basis. I know that we can drop a single column or all the tests for a host, but is there any way to remove tests on a wildcard basis? (I.E bin/bb 127.0.0.1 "drop hostname test_to_drop*") I need to keep the information for several of the tests but I wind up having to manually remove about 50 tests a day so far... :( If there's not, any chance it can be added in a future release? wrong alert: same mail every day

Hi, I am now receiving some alert happened last sunday, and i dont know why. Monday happened the same thing, i received this alert: red Sun Mar 5 11:53:26 2006 rpc NOT ok, Service unavailable how can i stop hobbit sending the same email every day? if i made a search on the file tmp/alert.chk i see a line indicating color "red" for service rpc and date "Sun Mar 5 11:53:26 2006" , is this correct? can i try to delete this line/remove the file? hobbit is version 4.1.1 on linux debian thanks -- Gianluca

The log is below. I think there is nothing in the log, as the problem happen I create A cron job to restart the service ever hour. The failed test is for the network test. What's in the logfiles ? Especially the bb-network.log, hobbitd.log, hobbitclient.log and the hobbitlaunch.log. Normally, these are mostly empty. Does this happen for only the network tests (conn, ssh, http and so on), or the client-side tests (cpu, disk, memory, procs), or all tests ? Dear all, My hobbit reported that all the device stopping the report. And the status become purple. If I restart the hobbit process, all device will be in green status. That makes sense. Under BB a code of 99 tells the server to ACK for all recipients. The obvious thing to check is of course the ack code. If you run bb 127.0.0.1 "hobbitdboard host=MYHOST fields=testname,cookie" it will give you a list of the tests and their corresponding ack code ("cookie" in Hobbit terms). So - are you using the right one? I notice your cookies have "99" at the end. I seem to recall that BB did something special with ack-codes that ended with 99; Hobbit doesn't do that. I am trying to ACK alerts using 4.1.2p1 but nothing happens, and I get the following in the hobbitd.log 2006-03-06 11:06:10 Cookie 9679999 not found, dropping ack 2006-03-06 11:08:59 Cookie 96799 not found, dropping ack I can see on previous mailings that version 4.0.2 had ack problems. I assumed it was fixed by 4.1.2.
