I'm trying to make the BIND graph appear on the trends page. I have the following coded in bb-hosts for the dns server: 192.168.210.11 dns1 # dns ftp TRENDS:*,bind The DNS test does work. hobbit install under debian sarge?

Has anyone gotten hobbit to install under vanilla sarge? I had to upgrade a previous machine to testing in order to get it to work, but I thought that was because of my port from ubuntu. I've tried both the 4.2 alfa and beta snapshots, and can't get either to build. They both fail here: hecking how to run the C++ preprocessor... /lib/cpp configure: error: C++ preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check See `config.log' for more details. make[1]: *** [c-ares/Makefile] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/dan/hobbit-4.2-alfa-20060423/bbnet' make: *** [bbnet-build] Error 2 I do have cpp installed, so I'm not sure why it fails the sanity check. I also tried the .deb version of the beta. Once I located all the config files :), I got hobbit to start, but it didn't like the version of the ssl libraries and was punting on other things. Thanks. Client Dies HP-UX 11.11 and 11.23 with no error

Hello all I am currently using 4.1.2p1. I have about 40 clients mixed HP-UX servers. All are working except for two. The client dies and there is no core, no error message to indicate why. One client is HP-UX 11.11 and the other is 11.23. Both were compiled using gcc 4.1.1 and are 32 bit. Any hints are suggestions about how I can troubleshoot this would be greatly appreciated.

Henrik, You got me on the right track. Here is what I have done to get this to work like I wanted: My external test "modemtest.sh" contains: #!/bin/sh BBLOCATION=modem bbtest-net --dns=ip My hobbitlaunch.cfg has this added: [modemtests] ENVFILE /home/hobbit/server/etc/hobbitserver.cfg NEEDS hobbitd CMD $BBHOME/ext/modemtest.sh LOGFILE $BBSERVERLOGS/modemtest.log INTERVAL 15m I added BBLOCATION="standard" and added the -test-untagged option to bbnet. I added a new service to bb-services: [faxmodem] send "AT\r\n" expect "OK" options telnet My bb-hosts file contains lines like this for the modems: 192.168.9.222 labfax1 # NET:modem faxmodem:3001 noconn So far it seems to be working pretty well. I started out with --debug in my external test to see what was actually happening. That was a big help! I'll probably keep messing around with this for a while to make sure it is really doing what it appears to be doing. Next I want to get the bbretest-net.sh working. Hobbit client 4.1.2 sends almost no data

We had a problem with disk space on one of our test systems. The filesystem running the hobbit client ran out of space. bb-msgs.pl continued to send msgs of "alloc: /opt: file system full" to the hobbit server OK. Some detail made it into the tmp/msg.txt file. Lost all data for graphing disk, memory, users and processes, CPU Utilization, and Network I/O. One of the things that really didn't make any sense to me was df only showed swap in msg.txt. See msg.txt below. df showed the filesystem had 700MB free. I then ran "./hobbitclient-sunos.sh > tfile" and it wrote the file with all the correct data. I am still looking at this but one of the things I did change was making hobbitclient.sh less reliant on writing to disk. Changes listed below. Not sure how good of an idea it is but I just wanted to throw it out there. At the moment I am thinking it would be a good change for the hobbit client. It's an extension to Tcl that can spawn a program, such as telnet, and then send commands to it. I have a script that telnets to a given server, answers TACACS prompt if necessary, and logs in, then su's to root - if the password is provided. You should be able to spawn a telnet command to a specific IP + port number, just as you would on the command line. Send the AT command, wait for the response. If it times out, do one thing, if the response occurs, do another thing. Lather, rinse, repeat. I haven't yet got into running much stuff via Hobbit, but I've had a lot of success over the last 5 years firing off Big Brother scripts from cron. Alerts and NOPROP

Hi, I have installed hobbit on Sun Solaris 9. I can monitor hosts, but no graph is shown. I get the following message, if I click on the "hobbit graph" Internet explorer cannot download.....eursun11&nostale&action=menu from eursun11.
