[hobbit] Status ok but conn history showing red on 2 hosts

Hello, I have a hobbit 4.1.2p1 running on linux RHEL4 I have some problems with the conn history showing red for 2 hosts The current status shows up as green for these hosts Event log & history show a red condition running since Tue Jun 27 17:19:25 2006 On other hosts history is updated without problems hobbit historyd is running >ps aux | grep history hobbit 17496 0.0 0.1 2072 664 ? annoying error in rrd-status.log with NCV module

Multiple graphs with NCV

Hi, I'm writing a hobbit script to have x25 statistics. I'd like to have multiple graphs (call-in/call-out, pkts-in/pkts- out, bytes-in/bytes-out) int he same column. Is there any conf to told NCV module to build multiple graphs with the same status/data message ? Nicolas

Henrik, In the other logfiles I have nothing. Hobbitlaunch.log is the only one getting any data. Hobbit user is owner of both /var/log/hobbit and everything under /usr/local/hobbit/. ghost clients reporting

Hi, I've just added the BBGHOST=2 setting to my hobbitserver.cfg file (running Hobbit Monitor 4.2-beta-20060605), and I was wondering if it is possible to create a warning in the hobbitd test when a ghost is detected ? As I understand it, BBGHOST=1 will discard the message, and BBGHOST=2 will add a line to the hobbitd page (something like : Ghost reports: 129.175.65.105 reported host inf-stephane.ias.u-psud.fr) I would like to be notified if someone sets up a hobbit client and 'forgets' to tell me. By the way, what does the BBGHOST=0 option do ? BBGHOSTS="0" # How to handle status messages from unknown hosts. # 0=accept message, 1=discard message, 2=discard message and log the event If I use the setting 0, does the message get added somewhere (and if so, where ...) ? RRD graphing not showing up

Hello, I'm still on this problem. By testing manually hobbitgraph.sh, I received the following output: Content-type: text/html <html><head><title>Invalid request</title></head> <body>Invalid request - no host or service</body></html> Does someone have an idea where I should look? Here is the other details I already sent. The graphs do not show up on one Hobbit server I installed on AIX. All the other hobbit servers I installed on AIX 5.2 and 5.3 do work fine. I used the same procedure for installing Hobbit (same pre-reqs). All the pages shows up properly but the graphs images are not produced. The server is on AIX 5.3, running 64 bits kernel. I tried many things following what I found in the list but without success. Here is what I tried already: - Tested manually hobbitgraph.sh, with the Apache user (REQUEST_METHOD, REQUEST_URI, etc). It return data. - Recompiled a few times using different options - I saw the list thread about problems on HPUX and 64 bits compilations. So I tried recompiling with my server in 32 bits and same problem - rrd files gets populated and rrdtool dump is working In my apache error log, I have the following: Premature end of script headers: /home/hobbit/cgi-bin/hobbitgraph.sh In my rrd-data.log, I have (I don't think it matters) Internal error: Duplicate match ignored Any ideas? TCP/IP stats (bits/s) limited to 100M

Hi, I have data suspicious with TCP/IP stats on Solaris and AIX. Graphs told me that my hosts don't send/receive more than ~110 Mbits/ s . This raise an alert on the backup server which is installed with a GigEth interface and need to eat many backups flow simulteanously. So, I'm checking other GigEth equipped host. I have some solaris hosts with GigEth. Graphs are inconsistent between interfaces details and TCP/IP general graphs. [patch] bb-findhost.cgi redirects to the page when only one host matches

hi, I made a small modification to bb-findhost.c so that when a search yields only one results, you get transported to that page. Since we only know there's one result after a full scan of the bb-hosts file, and don't want to scan the file twice, I use an ugly way to do it: a javascript redirect held in a <img> tag. This works for 4.1.2p1, but the patch applies in 4.2-beta-20060605 too (not tested live, thought). Regards, -- Charles Goyard rediscovering C

hobbitfetch - for Hobbit clients that cannot reach the Hobbit server

Some of you may be wondering what's happened since there is no release (candidate) of 4.2 yet. Part of the explanation is that I've been working on an urgent request from one of the Hobbit'ers, to come up with a solution where the Hobbit clients are not allowed to send data from the client (in a DMZ) to the Hobbit server (on the internal network). It's ready for some initial testing now, and I will include it in the 4.2 release but with a warning that it's very fresh and hasn't been tested much. But there have been several requests for this over time, so if this is something you may want to use, grab the latest snapshot and try it out. The way it works is that the client installation now includes a new tool called "msgcache". This is a "message cache"; the Hobbit client sends its data to msgcache (by having BBDISP set to 127.0.0.1 in the client configuration), and any add-on extensions also report their status to msgcache. On the Hobbit server, a new task "hobbitfetch" then polls all of the clients running msgcache, collects the messages they have saved, and sends them off to the Hobbit server. More information about setting it up is in the "msgcache" and "hobbitfetch" man-pages. You basically enable the tasks in the server- and client-configuration, and add a "pulldata" option to the client entries in the bb-hosts file. One advantage of this is that no modifications are needed on the client; all of your custom extension script will just work. And since hobbitfetch has been written to poll lots of clients simultaneously, it also scales better than e.g. copying the data from clients using scp or an SSH tunnel. Also, it is compatible with the Hobbit way of configuring clients centrally on the Hobbit server. Regards, Henrik

Trends graph for Procs only shows single instance

Hi, The PROCS status page shows a graph of multiple processes that have been defined to TRACK, but the procs graph on the TRENDS page only shows a single instance on the graph. Ports works properly and the definition in hobbitgraphs.cfg looks the same.
