Disabled systems stay that way, even after enabling them

I see this again and again-systems that I "disable" because I am working on them "stay" in a disabled (blue) state, even after I enable them. Any ideas..? Hobbit Webpage | CPU Status not available

Hi On Hobbit Webpage (Hobbit Monitor 4.1.1) i'm unable to see CPU Status for a Windows Client, although Conn and Disk is displayed. BB Client is installed and configured on the Windows client. Need help on how this can be corrected. Thanks Krishnan

OK, so the main purpose of the snapshot report is to reflect the color (status) at that time, and nothing else, right? If so, then the remainder of the data (procs, cpu stats, etc) are essentially bogus - as such, should the extra information even be displayed in a snapshot report? --------------------------------------------------------- Kent C. Doing that would require Hobbit to store - on disk - each and every status report that arrives, every 5 minutes. This would require a lot of disk space, add a huge overhead due to all of the I/O activity needed, and generally result in a significant degradation of Hobbit performance. I think that is too high a price to pay for having the right timestamps on a snapshot report. The color is right on the drill down status page. And that's the primary purpose of the snapshot report. Hi, I used the dependencies feature in bb-hosts to avoid many red systems behind a failing router which is really extremely useful. However, I'd like to go a step further - to save resources I'd like stop all tests for systems behind a failing router. Command Line Ack

I'm pretty much finished my Remedy trouble ticket system for Hobbit. There's only one feature I'm trying to add to it. I'd like to send an acknowledgement to Hobbit when a ticket is opened, and I'd rather send it via command line rather than through one of the cgi scripts or mailack. Is there a way to do this? If not, is there a way I can determine the host/service NUMBER from the command line so I can feed it back to mailack?

Hello, I wrote some weeks ago about a 'defunct' problem on a solaris 7 client. Today I got this problem on another server... This problem worries me a bit as I can't find any clues on how to solve it. Is it a bug in hobbit client ? A bug in the system ? Do you encounter this type of error under hobbit or under solaris ? All system commands normally respond when I separately launch them. All my other applications on this server are normally working. I really don't understand the problem... Thanks for your help. I was just looking back in the archives and found the thread about how to change the Event log on the bb2 page. int bb2eventlogmaxcount = 100; int bb2eventlogmaxtime = 240; Did these ever make it to becoming variables that can be changed in a config file, or do we still need to modify the source and recompile? Removing many reports

I have figured out how to remove a single test from one host, or all tests from a single host. Is it possible to remove a single test from *all* hosts? Or all tests from all hosts? Or all tests that are purple? I.e, are there Hobbit equivalents to these Big Brother tricks: cd bbvar/logs rm *.sometest rm * ls|xargs grep -l purple|xargs rm -f Ulric

Problem with multiple BBDISPLAYS

I have set up hobbit 4.2.0. I want it to receive reports from a combination of clients: - Big Brother Unix, various flavours - Big Brother Windows - Hobbit - Mr Big (in-house Windows client) This seems to work well. I also want to send reports to a Big Brother server, so I modify server/etc/hobbitserver.cfg like this: 8<--- #BBDISP="$BBSERVERIP" BBDISP="0.0.0.0" BBDISPLAYS="10.0.4.5 10.0.4.7" 8<--- When I do that, the client part of Hobbit sends reports to the Big Brother server, but the Hobbit server seems to crash. The yellow bbgen message that appears on the Big Brother server says: hobbitd status-board not available The bb.html page on the Hobbit server is blank when this happens. The server is an HP DL385 running 64-bit Debian. Lots of disk, lots of memory. I've looked at the log files in /var/log/hobbit. bb-display.log keeps repeating "hobbitd status-board not available". clientdata.log says "Tried to down BOARDBUSY: Invalid argument", but that seems related to the restarts. So, what am I doing wrong? Ulric

You can also run "bbcmd bash" to have a shell with all the env variable for hobbit and then you can run the ext script from that shell.
