Hello everybody, sorry for spamming the mailing list, but I'm quite desperate. Currently I'm doing my diploma thesis and part of it is setting up and customizing a monitoring environment using hobbit. Due to the fact, that my Prof wants me to write s.th. about the hobbit system architecture, I tried to reach Henrik personally by mail, but unfortunately got no reaction. Program crashed, fatal signal etc.

On my hobbit server, hobbitd_client is crashing continuously and I don't know why. It was fine last week and for many weeks prior; i came in this AM to find it being odd. Nothing has been added or changed. It is version 4.2.0. I have a core file, where shall i send it?

An unlucky "date" command on the hobbit server has changed the time from jan 12 to nov 1 for about 10/15 minutes :( Now almost all histories look like this: Mon Jan 29 00:09:59 2007 green 10:32:48 Sun Jan 28 23:55:01 2007 red 0:14:58 Wed Nov 01 00:00:32 2006 green 88 days 23:54:29 Wed Nov 01 00:00:17 2006 purple 0:00:15 Fri Jan 12 11:21:29 2007 green none Fri Jan 12 09:55:20 2007 red 1:26:09 is there a way to clean the history removing the wrong "Nov 01" lines? thank you -- Gianluca

Veritas backup

Hi all, We are about to install a Veritas back-up solution and I would like to know if somebody has done something to monitor such back-up solutions. Thank you. Btw here is the answer to my yesterday question: Start the bbcombotest in the hobbitlaunch.cfg idcsrv912.resource.tiauto.com.conn = idcsrv911.info && idcsrv911.ERPlog bigtest2.conn = idcsrv911.ERPlog Introduce such test in bbcombotest.cfg. You can overwrite already evaluated tests (like the conn test for idcsrv912 in the example above). Add those test in the bb-hosts file : 0.0.0.0 bigtest2 # noconn 0.0.0.0 idcsrv912.resource.tiauto.com # noconn That will force the conn result to be the one from the combo test. You can detail the correct IP address if you know it but it also works well that way if there are some way to resolve the symbolic names with DNS. Etienne Marganne TI Automotive. Thanks for the assistance but I'm still having no luck. I did change the bb-hosts section to use ossubpage. I am running this manually from the command line so I haven't added it to hobbitlaunch yet. I plan on doing that once I get it working. It creates the page and both subpages properly but doesn't add the server into the subpage. I can only get it working by using OS:* but then it puts the server in the top page and not in the subpages like I want it. combotest and the test states

Hi all, This morning I have been testing combined test to try to mark as unreachable a list of hosts. From the tests I deduced the following statements: You can not overwrite already evaluated tests with combined containing their occurency. Explanation: emarganne.conn = bigrouter.conn && emarganne.conn do not work. Indeed it seams that the token "emarganne.conn" has to be unique. If you use it in the logic expression its value will be -1 because the expression analyzer links "emarganne.conn" to the one defined as the combo test not the one that has been defined in the bb-hosts file. So you can not create link the connectivity of a hosts to one of the other directly this way. I am right or is there any workaround ? Etienne Marganne TI Automotive. BBWin bbd column

I have successfully installed and configured bbwin 0.9 on a windows client. My question is about bbd. >From docs.. "The bbd column shows the status of the Hobbit or Big Brother service on the host. " Since bbd refers to a host installed agent, which is not part of bbwin, how do I disable this in hobbit-server for a given windows host. Thanks ~Don
