Differences in two Hobbit servers for no reason?

I have two Hobbit servers that I built. The latest one that I built monitors everything on itself, while the older server doesn't monitor cpu, disk, memory, msgs, netstat, pop3, procs, smtp, svcs, and uptime. I haven't made any changes to the hobbitclient file that would remove any monitoring. Any ideas as to what I need to do to bring back this monitoring on the old server? Both servers have entries in the bb-hosts file as such: 192.168.1.1 hobbit.server.com #bbd http://hobbit.server.com/ Thanks, Aaron Kincaid

[hobbit] Trend Graphs Stopped Showing Data

As best I can tell all the possibilities you list below look like they should present no problem to the process. Since everything is working except for the two trend graphs I noted, perhaps it would be best if I follow the data flow for one of those graphs. I assume the data for the CPU Load trend graph is pulled from the [uptime] section of the client data report (I'm looking at what is shown when clicking on the 'Client data available' link at the bottom of the cpu status page). Where in the process can I put in any hooks to verify that the data is moving through as expected? Thanks for all your help, and sorry for my lack of hobbit knowledge. Hi guys, I change the IP Address of the hobbit server and changed the clients to point to the new server. The hobbit server's cpu, disk, files, mem, msgs, ports and process remained purple for more than 12 hours now. What can I check to fix this issue ?

And now, just as magically as the CPU Load and Users and Processes graphs started showing data, they have stopped again. All other trend graphs are functioning. As far as I can tell all the data is coming over from the client and it appears to be some issue with getting the data where it needs to go to show up in the trend graphs, but I'm just guessing here. Are there any thoughts on what I could look at to try to resolve this problem? can i use bb client for hobbit?

hello, currently we are testing to migrate from bb to hobbit. we are monitoring many server. we did not find out to use the bb client for hobbit till now. so that we don't install the hobbit client on so many server we gladly to know if it is possible to use the bb client for hobbit? if it is possible please let us know how we can use the bb client for hobbit. thanks. regards, daniel

Where is the client data stored in hobbit server?

Hello, In the some html outputs of the each test there is a "Client data" link and of course its data with it..... I would like to implement a customized script to parse all the lines of the "Client data" and send an alert if certain keyword matches. I think it would be nice because you don't have to implement it in all the client sides.....Definitely there are many people who are interested in it ??? And I can't figure out where the data is stored in the hobbit server side. My question is,,,,Where is the "Client data" stored in the hobbit server side? Please help me with finding it...

Hi. I professionally use digitemp to monitor various temperatures in all my server rooms and other. But if you use lmsensors, please read the script. As far as I can see, it is only for one sensor and one temperature. You may have to rewrite the script or even just write a new one. If you wish to see what the script outputs, just comment the line 'rm $(STMP)' with a hash sign (#). Then run the script and read the file that it outputs. Hi. There is a fourth option, which I took as updating to snapshot caused my hobbit to break for some reason, and seeing that it is a system I must have up 99% of the day, I just backported. Well, that was not the option anyways :) My suggestion is that you make a custom script to parse your information and create the RRD's (actually the hobbit server manages creating the RRD's .. You just have to parse the information and send it in the proper format to hobbit). That way you can have your multi-file RRD's (one per balancer or some) and you don't have to update to snapshot. I wrote my script in perl (my very first perl script .. How I hate the language ;) and it works very well. You will not find it in the Shire, mainly because I haven't posted it there yet. There's three solutions : - apply a patch I posted on the list (does split-ncv on a testname basis). Custom graphs with multiple data sources

I am monitoring a set of load balancers (Alteons) which each have at least 1, but possibly/usually more, virtual addresses configured (for server load balancing groups). At the moment, I use a custom script to poll each device via SNMP and send a single status message per device to Hobbit, based on the session loads on those "virts." I am using NCV for graphing. However, with this, I am only able to manage one graph, and one data source, per device. I would like to graph all the session values. I would also like to use multiple RRD files. My experience with the single-file, multiple-DS approach is that, if I add another virtual, graphing will break (updates error out, probably since the RRD was not created with this new data source defined). I am amenable to changing the scripts to use the data channel approach (using the --extra-script method). I am hoping that I could use the hobbitgraph RRDFN/RRDIDX/RRDPARAM keywords to create the graphs. But, the documentation for custom graphing implies that only a single filename for the incoming data can be specified, so I see no way to split the data into multiple files, single DS per RRD. Short of creating a separate test column for each virtual I am monitoring, is there a better way to collect/plot this information?
