Is anyone using ZFS File Systems on Solaris 10.. If so how do you monitor them, I've put together a monitoring script for them to show the health and capacity if anyone is interested. It's fairly low-tech but does what it needs to, I've got some ideas for putting more features into it at a later date. hobbitd crashing (both 4.0.2 and latest snapshot) on Solaris 8

After adding additional tests today I saw that some of my tests weren't getting through. I checked their logs and saw repeted lines like: 2007-04-10 20:17:59 Could not connect to bbd at xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1985 - Connection refused 2007-04-10 20:17:59 Whoops ! bb failed to send message - Connection failed (replaced actual IP with xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) Additionally, both in my previous install of hobbit and the current snapshot I'm seeing the following messages written to /var/log/hobbit/hobbitlaunch.log: 2007-04-10 18:13:16 Setting up network listener on 0.0.0.0:1985 2007-04-10 18:13:16 Setting up local listener 2007-04-10 18:13:17 Task bbdisplay terminated by signal 15 2007-04-10 18:13:17 Setting up signal handlers 2007-04-10 18:13:17 Setting up hobbitd channels 2007-04-10 18:13:17 Setting up logfiles 2007-04-10 18:16:21 Task hobbitd terminated by signal 6 2007-04-10 18:16:21 Task bbdisplay terminated by signal 15 I will install gdb and see if I can get more info to provide but am wondering if this is a known issue. I need help as I need to complete a bb4->hobbit migration by next Friday, have a meeting scheduled tomorrow to show my progress, and hobbit is "dead" at the moment. Help? stephen

Hi I wonder if you can assist me on this following error message, I have tried everything updated all the packages and I still cant compile hobbit. monitoring a directory on a client

Hello all. I am attempting to monitor a randomly disappearing directory on one of my Mac OS X Server clients. Looking at the docs for hobbit-client.cfg, I should be able to monitor the directories existence with: HOST=upload.iconla.com FILE /Volumes/raid/upload red type=dir TRACK I should also be able to monitor the size of that directory by adding the line: DIR /Volumes/raid/upload red size<40522440 TRACK I expect that this should graph the size of the directory and turn red when it reaches over 19G as well as go red iif the directory disappears. I know my HOST line is correct as it is already reading my DISK status settings. Yet Files Status still shows : No files checked. Where have I gone wrong? -Eric

Hey folks, I've recently added a few items to The Shire. One of the more interesting is a manifest file for Solaris 10 to allow you to configure hobbit as a service in the new Service Management Facilty. You may want to subscribe to The Shire's announcement list (https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/theshire-announce) as I will be sending emails there whenever new monitors, addons, etc are added. I'm also trying to talk a web developer friend of mine into writing an interface to allow developers to fill out a form for their extensions. This will make it easier for you to add to the site (not that it's in the least bit overwhelming at the moment). =G=

Ok, I'm writing a couple of custom monitors for some tasks at the office. These can be either client or server scripts and can easily be scripted either way. What would you recommend for server versus client extensions? What criteria would you use to decide? Some guidelines would be helpful for determining which type of script to pursue. =G=

about configuring hobbit client

i have a problem while setting up hobbit client. for example i have installed hobbit server in 192.168.0.1 and i have installed hobbit client in 192.168.0.2 and i want to send client data to the hobbit server for viewing different status like disk usage, procs etc. How do i do that. Please help me thru this

propagate disable

Hello all, I have question about test disabling. How to have the disable being propagated to another Hobbit server, let's say another bbserver (not just a display one then) kind of server. It could be better and friendlier to have those states to be updated on both servers. I have tried to think about using a home made script running "bb" command in some kind of way but no "schedule" or "until ok" option are available. Does someone have an idea of how to do it? Hi - I've just upgraded to 4.2.0 and am having trouble getting the URL to come up. I'm getting "Forbidden, you don't have permission to access /hobbit/bb.html on this server". I looked in the forum and found a previous posting that referenced adding umask 022 to the startup script, I added this to hobbit.sh, modified the permissions for the bb*.html files and retarted and am still having the issue. I think it's because of the permissions on the bb*.html files in the www directory - I have another hobbit server running that has these as 664, but whenever I restart hobbit on my new install it changes back to 644.
