I am getting the following alert from hobbit 4.2.0: yellow Fri Jun 8 10:53:36 EDT 2007 - Filesystems NOT ok &red Expected strings (Capacity and Mounted) not found in df output When I look at the output from the client the df output is missing. 4.2.0 problem with "Snapshot Report"

I've been trying to get the "Snapshot Report" feature to work correctly, but no matter what date I use for the report, when I click on "Generate Report", I get a blank page with only "Cannot create output directory" as its contents. I checked the apache logs and can't find any information about this. Any ideas?

Feature Request: info column should show dependencies

It would be nice if the info column showed what hosts/services that the host depends on (assuming the depends flag was used). Thank you for having the dependency option, it's quite useful! -Charles

stand-by hobbit

First, many thanks for creating and maintaning Hobbit, a first-class product !!! Got a question about running a stand-by (or secondary) hobbit server, let say, I'm not ready/prepare to run a linux cluster, and would like a backup server, just in case the primary server, serverA, is down (due to failure or maintenance). Small bug in hobbitgraph.cfg

Hi, I just got bitten by the lack of dot-escaping in the FNPATTERN definitions in hobbitgraph.cfg. Lines like: FNPATTERN ports.(.+).rrd should read: FNPATTERN ports\.(.+)\.rrd I happen to have a "portswho" status that creates rrd files like "portswho,hostname-proto-tcpstate.rrd" (it's like ports but plots individual source hosts rather than a total), so the first FNPATTERN matches, and breaks the graph. Ability to follow 302 redirects

I'm trying to do a content check of a URL that 302's (because an auth token is being passed in the URL). The problem I am having is Hobbit reports "No output received from server". I searched the archives and noted that Hobbit does not (yet?) support following 302 redirects, but shouldn't it get "something" back from the server? If anything I could check the 302 code to verify that it is redirecting to the authenticated URL instead of the error one. -Charles

Using Hobbit icons inside your status messages

Is there some "officially condoned" method to get Hobbit icons into your status messages? Back when using Big Brother, I would just add something like: <IMG SRC=/gifs/green.gif ALT=green HEIGHT=16 WIDTH=16 BORDER=0> to the status message. I'm sure something similar would work for Hobbit too. I was just wondering if there was some built-in auto substitution in Hobbit that would be cleaner. Maybe like putting " __GREEN__" inside the status message.

Custom graphs, passing data

There appear to be two ways to get data into a custom graph. (1) Use the built-in NCV module to parse it out of a Hobbit message, or (2) use the --extra-script and --extra-test options to hobbitd_rrd. I have tried (1) but not (2) yet. I want to use (1) for it's efficient operation, but the Hobbit message format it requires for parsing looks ugly when displayed on the webpage (at least I think it's ugly). So I was looking for ways to "hide" the data from the webpage while still allowing the NCV module to find it. My first thought was to send the Hobbit message with the graphing data hidden inside a <div style="display:invisible">...</div> block. But this doesn't work because when generating the webpage, Hobbit puts the incoming message inside a <table>, and you can't hide <div>'s when they're inside a table cell. Does anyone have other solutions to this, while still using method (1) so the NCV module can efficientlhy parse things? Or am I stuck with learning and moving to method (2)?
