Hi Hobbit's, I would like to raise a litle feature request: I like the functionality that when you hook the mousepointer over a dot a small box pops up and displays information in the form column:color:duration. I (and also a lot of people in my company) would like to see this also for the hostname links. If a DESCR tag is in the bb-hosts file for this host it's content should be displayed in the little pop-up box. This way it's not necessary to view the info column each time to get this info. I think it can be done by inserting an "ALT" html-tag in the page source-code. I looked into the pagegen.c and other modules but I didn't find the right place to hook in. And unfortunately I'm pretty poor in C programing. Can someone give me a tip or is someone even able to code this (Henrik?) Thanks Johann

bbgen core in latest snapshot

I just put on the latest snapshot and started getting core files and the bbgen column is saying "Fatal signal caught!". Below is the core analysis. disk service not changing

Hi all, I have set the disk threshold for a particular disk on this machine to warn when it reaches 30% utilization (it's just a test). I left it to see if it would change eventually last night, but it hasn't. I don't want to alert, so there's no entry in hobbit-alerts.cfg, although that shouldn't matter. Am I missing something? Flurry of emails on hobbit server reboot

Think this got lost in the flurry of 4.3 emails Is there something I can do to help troubleshoot this? I don't mind digging in the code. The problem is, if I have downtime on my Hobbit sevrer (not the clients), I get buried in emails when the server comes back up. I have to kill sendmail (usually I pull the network while its down) and flush /var/spool/clientmqueue. Henrik said that there was supposed to be a 10 minute delay before going purple on a server startup, but it seems to be not working. Stewart

Create charts which aggregate information for all servers (or choose specific), I *think* this could be done with a massive CDEF in the RRD graphs, but I am not sure if there is a limit. Total Disk Used Total Disk Avail Total Network Bytes/In Total Network Bytes/Out Total Mem Used Total Mem Avail CPU is real tough. One way would be to try and inventory all the procs and use CSPEC info to determine 'capacity' between procs. That would be real hard. Or, create a chart with the median and average CPU utilization. Hi Henrik, I have 2, of which 1 is very desirable, the other is nice to have: The first is multiple bb2 pages. I would envision it this way: In the hobbitserver.cfg file, a variable exists called, say, "BB2TAGS", as well as a NOBB2TAG, i.e.: BB2TAGS="BB2MD, BB2NET, BB2PCS, BB2PRINT, BB2UNIX, BB2BATCH, BB2COMPUTE" NOBB2TAG="NOBB2" Then, every host appears on the default bb2 page, as it does now, as well as each specific page, as long as it does not have the NOBB2 tag in bb-hosts. If it has the NOBB2 tag and a say, BB2MD tag, then it appears only on the BB2MD page. EX: 0.0.0.0 myhost.mydomain.com # BB2MD NOBB2 This would be a huge help to us, as we use the bb2 page for our morning ritual (checkout), and now each group must filter through data that is not of direct interest to their group. The nice to have would be to have multiple MAIL variables, which would then ease the construction of rules in Outlook. Hobbit Client for Sun OS

Is there a precompiled version of the hobbit_client_ available for SunOS 5.10. If not, how can I build the client only and what prerequisites do I need. bbcombotest patch (child service color)

I noticed that when you build services upon services (like bbcombotest.cfg(5) suggests you may), the parent services don't properly show the children's color in the status data part, i.e. instead of showing "&green" or "&red", they always show up as "&unknown". The patch below fixes this for me here. Also, allow unescaped underscores, they are not used in operators. pattern matching on http test

Hello, I have added a couple a month ago a test on the content of some http pages to know if the answers Hobbit was getting were the good ones. For that I used the pattern matching rules and everything worked fine. Now I noticed that sometimes the test goes blank without any reason, the web servers are still up, ... Windoz, AIX HP_UX Solaris Linux for sure, probably more. But I'm really only worried about Solaris. I only have two hp server with hobbit clients but a variety of Solaris (2.5 thought 10). Just if I forget to edit the Sol. script I end up with dozens of these pseudo FS, which are really just a few real FS. So Solaris in script would be a convenience, give me clean builds/installs. Basicly on the HP I capture then later echo the header line ; then make sure that Im getting a single line per FS (in the script already) and grep out only lines staring with /dev. I think you CAN get lines that don't start with /dev but the Sys/adm got go out of his way to do this. So Im not sure if this is a generic Solution for HP.
