How do I run a hobbit ext script at 1st day of every month ?

Is there a way to configure a scrip to be run at specific day of the moth/year ? like cronjob or at command. I have a metric script that need to be run at first day of each month.Following example is not really what I need. temperature script compatible with Hobbit

I'm looking for a temperature script suitable for linux machines (using lm_sensors). I found a couple on deadcat but none of them seemed to work very well. I hacked on one and got basic temperature monitoring working, but no graphs because the output is not in whatever format Hobbits do_temp rrd module is expecting. Does anyone have an lm_sensors script that both alerts on temp thresholds and is compatible with Hobbits rrd graphing? I tried seaching TheShire with no luck. -Charles

Enable hobbit to alert about idle systems

Hello All, I am searching for a way to enable hobbit to alert me if a host machine has not been in use by a user for a long period of time (eg, 2 weeks). Example: I have a system that is on loan to a testing group, the system is idle because they have not used it for 2 weeks. Hobbit alerts me about the idle machine, so I can ask the users if they are done with it, and can take the machine back. Thanks for any help, -John B

'msgs' test log content not being sent to Hobbit server

I have been unable to get the msgs test to work. I have configured client-local.cfg [sunos] log:/var/adm/messages:10240 and hobbit-clients.cfg HOST=cicero LOG %/var/adm/messages %fatal COLOR=red The Hobbit server sends Cicero the client-local.cfg directives, because Cicero's ~hobbit/client/tmp/logfetch.cicero.cfg shows log:/var/adm/messages:10240 but if I look in ~hobbit/client/tmp/msgs.cicero.txt it says: [msgs:/var/adm/messages] [logfile:/var/adm/messages] type:100000 (file) mode:644 (-rw-r--r--) ... ... The messages file has been stocked exclusively with messages containing the word 'fatal'. The stanza 'logfile:/var/adm/messages' knows the file is large and visible, but the stanza 'msgs:/var/adm/messages' says the file is null, and that's evidently what gets reported back to the Hobbit server. So my msgs test never goes from green to red. What am I doing wrong? Anyone using the CHECKPOWER script from deadcat.net?

I have been using it to check the status of two APC3000 since January. I just discovered today that it is not running correctly and that its status is still reported as GREEN on Hobbit. I know most of you probably use DEVMON, but that is not an option for this situation, since I have to run the test client side and report its status from the client. Since there a new version come soon I thought I mention a couple thing I request in the past. 1. toggle between % and size on disk graphs. right now you can change the url to do this That is: http://scorpion/hobbit-cgi/hobbitgraph.sh?host=dwvob13k&service=disk&graph_… to : http://scorpion/hobbit-cgi/hobbitgraph.sh?host=dwvob13k&service=disk1&graph… Nice to have a button to do this. 2. Alert/show on either/or specified change in file size and/or % change. That is: DISK /home01 size=+50% size=-10G DISK /home02 size=+-50% DISK / size=+-100M Or some thing like that. hobbitfetch testers needed

I've been going over the hobbitfetch code looking for the cause of the cpu-spinning lockups that have been reported. I *think* I've found it, but this needs confirmation from someone who sees the problem in a real setup, as opposed to my testing scenario. So I'd be interested to have my bugfix tested by someone who has this problem. If you can, grab the current snapshot http://www.hswn.dk/beta/ Rebuild Hobbit, copy for snapshot/hobbitd/hobbitfetch utility into your ~hobbit/server/bin/ directory and restart Hobbit. HOST=* COLOR=yellow,red SERVICE=* EXSERVICE=msgs,cpu,memory REPEAT=5h RECOVERED MAIL myemail at domain.com Referring to the above syntax, it means that i'll be receiving alerts for color red and yellow right? What if the service is already in yellow alert for an hour then I received the email notification, and then it becomes a red alert sooner than the specified REPEAT time, Is it normal that I will no longer receive an email notification for the red alert? Co'z I didn't receive one for the red alert. Thanks! Ryan

timeline for 4.3.0

Hey Henrik, I know there's been a big drive since you announced the highlights for 4.3.0. I also noted that it will not be released until the hobbitfetch works without crashing (patch test pending). Do you have an idea of when you are going to release 4.3.0? Are you planning to do any RC releases prior to full release or just depend on the snapshots? This is mainly curiousity since there are some nice features in 4.3.0 that will be good to have and we tend to only want to use the prod version. That actually brings up the question of running the new version in parallel with the old (obviously this would need to be done on a separate box). Would this be as simple as adding it to the bbdisplay variable? just curious =G=
