Good day! Is this possible? [hobbit] Disk Monitoring

James, There is a script available that will check that files systems on an HPUX that are in the /etc/fstab file are mounted. However, this will not help you in a cluster situation. I have not seen a hobbit script for doing a check of a VCS cluster. At my last job we used BMC Patrol and we wrote custom scripts to check the health of both our VCS and Service Guard clusters. I am about to start a project where I will be creating 2 Service Guard clusters in Production. BBWIN

Hi All, So, I'm looking at putting on Windows clients in the Infrastructure. I've looked a BBWIN which appears to be the better. Problem is that it doesn't seem to have the nice GUI to change configuration. I won't be able to roll it out into the windows Infrastructure, the windows folks will install it. They will definitely want a GUI. I'm just wondering what other folks have done. Has anyone out there improved on bbwin to make it more configurable from a gui? Thanks.James

Since I've written all manner of custom scripts that snoop into application logfiles, databases, etc., trying to dig up dirt on misbehaving apps, the user community has nicknamed my Hobbit installation "The Eye of Sauron". It kind of fits! In the second volume, The Two Towers, Tolkien writes: "The Eye: that horrible growing sense of a hostile will that strove with great power to pierce all shadows of cloud, and earth, and flesh, and to see you: to pin you under its deadly gaze, naked, immovable."

alert MAIL FORMAT=SMS generates large message

I have the following alert in hobbit-alerts.cfg MAIL FORMAT=SMS phonenumber at domain.com COLOR=red REPEAT=20 RECOVERED The alert action happens when it's supposed to, but the admin does not receive the special tiny-size SMS. Instead he receives the large-size email that MAIL FORMAT=TEXT would generate, which his phone service splits up into four separate messages. Has anyone else seen this? bad magic number

I'm trying to install hobbit client 4.2.0 onto an hpux 11.23 server. I got the ./configure.client script to work but when I run gmake I get the following error: /usr/lib/dld.sl: Bad magic number for shared library: /usr/local/lib/libiconv.sl /usr/lib/dld.sl: Exec format error Any ideas. Apparently random and unexplained purple behavior?

Any ideas why one test (procs) from the standard Hobbit client would go purple when other tests performed at the same time by the same client do not? On the purple procs test, I click on the "client data available" link and see that it has current info for the "[ps]" section, but still the procs column shows purple. The other columns, disk, memory, etc., are fine. The default section of my hobbit-clients.cfg has cron as the only proc to check for (keeps the light green rather than gray for the light-watchers who get nervous for any non-green color). I've only noticed this random purple behavior on the procs column on one machine (an older Solaris 7 box). I can't say that it's never occurred on other servers I monitor, just that I haven't noticed it if it has. Thanks!
