Hi, I have a few questions, I hope someone can help me. I've been using Hobbit for almost 2 years now and it was version 4.2 on Ubuntu 6.06. Last week I decided to replace the whole thing and installed the latest 4.3.0-beta2 from a deb package on Ubuntu 8.04.1. Since then I have some problems. ftp is always "red" on both servers I have this check on. And so is mssql I defined in bb-services like this: [mssql] options telnet port 1433 this also happens on both servers I check. I still have my old server and both the tests are working great. The configuration was copied from the old bb-services and bb-hosts files. The environment (firewalls, etc.) had not changed. At first I suspected the manually added services, but I also have this: [port80] options telnet port 80 and it works great. The other question is regarding the linux hobbit client. I have a cluster of Squids behind a pfSense firewall. There's a hobbit client installed on every server. With the old Hobbit version, the Squids would sometimes transmit a truncated msg. But I never gave it too much thought. But with the new version of Xymon, I see those Squids constantly with cpu purple, or worse - disks red. Of course, after a few minutes/hours it comes back to normal, but why would it happen in the first place? hobbitmon 4.2.3 client on esx 3.5.0 works first time only - then goes purple

Hi, I have hobbitmon clients running on various servers; this week turned my attentions to some ESX servers. The hobbitmon client configure/make went fine & after running "runclient.sh start" the status columns of the hobbitmon server display page went green (and expected data reported). However, 20 - 30 minutes later, those statuses went purple & inspecting the data showed (from the timestamp) that the client ran only the first time. The ...client/logs show nothing untoward, no core files in ...client/tmp - and I opened the ESX firewall port! file system monitoring

Trying to figure out the best way to monitor a file system so that it will alert two different groups at different alert levels. Example DISK /home 90 95 GROUP=appgroup DISK /home 96 98 I would also like xymon stay green until the 2nd condition is reach (96 98). Xymon CentOS 5 installation

Hi Guys and Gals. I am busy moving my POC Xymon server to a full time dedicated server. I have been using my Ubuntu Distro for development and testing and would like to install the server CentOS. I have a look at the installation instructions on the Wiki about CentOS spcifics but it seems bit outdated. For example it still creates a Hobbit user and so on. Can anyone here give me some pointers so I can avoid a lot of frustration. Regards Neil

Firefox 3.5 and magnifier

Using the latest firerox, whenever I use the magnifier to zoom into a graph, all I get is this lousy blue screen (see attached png ) I tried with a new profile, same result. Firefox 3.0.11 doesn't show this behaviour. Any hints? Bugreport at Mozilla?

Hi All, I am having a problem where users and groups are being created without the knowledge of the admin team and its making it difficult to know who had access to what systems if they leave the company... is there a way for hobbit to tell me when the /etc/passwd or /etc/group files change? Well, it may depend on how many hosts Xymon is monitoring... Check your process listing for each hobbitd that has a high CPU load and check the corresponding log files for issues. Do you see anything unusual on your trend page for you Xymon server? Also check your bbgen and bbtest status results for your Xymon server. Craig
