Massive spike in percentile memory graph

Hi I've got a host that has apparently sent false info to the hobbit server, and the result is that the monthly graph shows a flatline with a "80M %" memory use. I don't want to delete the whole rrd file, is there any way to truncate this graph to only show below 101% usage? I'm using hobbit 4.2.0 on a Centos 5 linux server, and the same version hobbit client on a solaris 9 client Thanks Stefan

Xymon 4.2.3 client running on RHE4 (update 3). When I click on CPU I get the output of top, but it is wrong (Load average may be correct, but list of processes running is not). I checked the data being built in tmp directory on client, and it is wrong there also, so I am sure it has something to do with client. Devmon / MRTG

Hi, Could I get a quick-and-dirty explanation regarding the Devmon implementation in Xymon 4.3.x? The way I understand it, Devmon provides SNMP capabilities to Xymon so the monitoring server can poll SNMP capable devices. How is this different to Integrating MRTF data into XYMON, for example? If I am interesting in getting bandwidth for various device interfaces, I am assuming it is best to do via Devmon rather than integrate MRTG? Lastly, is there a readme / howto that explains devmon-xymon setup? Thanks, Mario

disk partition not shown / global graphs problem

Hi, I'm running xymon client on a debian linux. Some partitions are not graphed, but i've a dead link instead of additional graph. the test did correctly report all partitions, the only problem is the graph. I deleted the disk*rrd files in ~xymon/data/rrd/my_host/ the rrd file are created again, but my partition is still not on graph. I've same issue with other graphs, some are feeded by my own script, and almost every plugin I use are not correctly reported in graph (some values are in graph, others aren't). Tks for any help

DNS Test - BB-Hosts

Hi All! I am trying to perform DNS record lookups via the bb-hosts dns directive. My directive is as follows: 0.0.0.0 dnsserver.domain.com # dns=a:www.google.com if have also tried 0.0.0.0 dnsserver.domain.com # dns=www.google.com The result does not show the record lookups but only shows that the DNS service is OK (up) Can anybody shed some light as to why this is not performing the nslookups? THANKS!

recovery messages

I've noticed that if I have a situation where I have red alert that turns yellow before finally returning to green that no recovery messages are being sent. Alert notifications are only being sent on reds, not yellow. I suspect that when the red turns to a yellow that Hobbit is "forgetting" that it sent out the notification when it turned red since it is not sending them out on yellows. Does anybody out there know how to fix this? Thanks, Larry Barber

I'm using CentOS 5.3 64bit with xymon-4.3.0-beta2 It seems that when on bb-hosts there is config where there are short similar names, the first connection test fail. This means that the ping of aa trought ip 1.2.3.4 fail for to reproduce the problem put on bb-hosts 1.2.3.4 aa # 1.2.3.5 aa1 # 1.2.3.6 aa2 # after a while the check conn of aa go to red on the server shell you are able to run ping,fping,hobbitping trought aa and it works. Graphs not woring

Hi I have just installed hobbit on a new server. I have some problems with the trends/graphs. When i try to zoom, the graps is just blue. I can zoom, and the only way to see the graph, is if i right click on the buttom of the graph, and click on "show image". Solaris vxfs filesystem monitor.

With Xyxmon - I am not using a specific monitor for the veritas file systems on my server. The default script does not let them be seen in the display I edited the $BB_HOME/bin/hobbitclient-sunos.sh script to fix this. I would like to recommend this to be included in future builds - Its a simple change: Ine 25: FSTYPES=`/bin/df -n -l|awk '{print $3}'|egrep -v ^proc|^fd|^mntfs|^ctfs|^devfs|^objfs|^nfs"|sort|uniq` Change to: FSTYPES=`/bin/df -n -l|awk -F: '{print $2}'|egrep -v ^proc|^fd|^mntfs|^ctfs|^devfs|^objfs|^nfs"|sort|uniq` This allows the display of the vxfs filesystems. The issue is the way they output under the default. Most have a space in front of the colon, but veritas does not - its colon abuts the first field. By splitting on the colon, yo get what is intended. This may apply under other OS's, but I don't have ay with veritas outside of the solaris one. lurch at inorbit.com
