entropy going yellow

The entropy check on my xymon server keeps going yellow saying that the kernel entropy pool is low. However I am not completely sure what it is (I did look for info online) or how to fix the check so it does not go yellow (increase the entropy? Clear it ?) If anyone can give me a hand I would appreciate it.

bbtest-net crashing

Hello, A few days ago we experimented a total loss of service from Hobbit. The bbtest-net process keeps on crashing; we tried first to isolate the line from the bb-host file but it did not work, instability went back after a short period of stability. We have two Hobbit servers instance being clones and they failed the same way. Trying some debugging we searched the mailing for similar problems to see if someone had a solution but the -no-ares swith solution found did not make it. "unknown DS name" question.

I have an xymon script that was producing the following web information. From this information I was plotting "Delta Pages Printed". Data and graph was working great until..... Here is the old web data. Printer Counter = 1869893 Total Pages Printed Since 2010/02/17/18/18/32 = 2810 Delta Pages Printed = 0 I needed to enter another line in the web data and now it looks like: Printer Counter = 1869893 Printer Cartridge Counter = 10803 Total Pages Printed Since 2010/02/17/18/18/32 = 2810 Delta Pages Printed = 0 I added the "Printer Cartridge Counter =" but I still only wanting to graph the "Delta Pages Printed". Rrd-status.log is now giving the following messages: 2010-02-22 15:48:25 RRD error updating /local/xymon/data/rrd/lp.math.purdue.edu/Prn.rrd from 128.210.33.225: unknown DS name 'PrinterCartridgeCou' And if I go to the data/rrd/lp.math.purdue.edu and run "rrdtool dump Prn.rrd" it in fact does not have a ds 'PrinterCartridgeCou' My question is how do I update the current Prn.rrd? Route/Netstat Crashing and/or Ipconfig Not Working = Purple results

Folks, we have three dell power edge 2950s that are running a Win2k3 OS as well as the Citrix Xenapp (version 5.0). What we see is that Hobbit will report the basic test purple (CPU, Disk, Mem, ect) after some time has pasted. When we logon to the systems we usually see a crash message saying that either route.exe or netstat has crashed. Checking the task manger on these boxes shows we can have a mix of netstat and route.exe still running (some times its just one, other there are 2 or more instances, or just one of them running, ect). Looking at the event viewer we will usually see: The agent stats generated this event message : failed to execute ipconfig /all But no other error indications on those boxes. And of course when we run this ipconfig command it works all the time for us. The simple fix is to kill any an all netstat.exe, route.exe and cmd windows they tried to run and then the servers go back to green. Problem is they will only last for some time until they go purple. And the time it takes is random. Finally we have 6 other Citrix servers all configured in the same manor that do NOT exhibit this behavior. So any ideas on how to find out why netstat/route keep crashing? Thanks! Jb

HP Array Monitoring

Hi People. We have had some drives in our raid array fail over the last two weeks. The problem is that we weren't monitoring the array via Xymon and only picked it up when we were physically at the server. I just wanted to check if there is a way to monitor HP raid array via Xymon. dual identity client

Hi, I'm running xymon client 4.3.0-beta2 on a host called TOTO, i also installed xymon server 4.3.0-beta2on TOTO. All my xymon clients report their statuses to TOTO and TATA (a host running xymon client 4.2.2/ and xymon server 4.3.0-beta2). Since I installed xymon server 4.3.0-beta2 on TOTO , TOTO's xymon client reports itselfs alternatively as "TOTO" and "TATA" . I searched very hardly what should be the reason. I can't find any "TATA" in the TOTO's xymon client directory. Any idead ?

dropped hosts comes back

Hi all, I have an issue with a hobbit/xymon installation on a debian stable machine. (installation was done with the debian package, so the version is 4.3.0.0 beta2). Even if I drop a complete host with the bb drop command, and this host is not in the bb-hosts file, the tests are still performed. I also removed the files in the data directory for this host, but it comes back. The bb hobbitboard shows the hosts. How can I get rid of my old hosts/tests ? thanks.

ifstat.mac.rrd question

I am getting this error message in my rrd-data.log about every minute. I looked in the archive about this and only found one entry that did not provide much help. Also in the trends in the network traffic graph I see an interface named "mac". 2010-02-15 08:41:35 RRD error updating /local/xymon/data/rrd/gauss.math.purdue.edu/ifstat.mac.rrd from 128.210.3.205: /local/xymon/data/rrd/gauss.math.purdue.edu/ifstat.mac.rrd: illegal attempt to update using time 1266241295 when last update time is 1266241295 (minimum one second step) QUESTION: 1) what is the "mac" interface? 2) what is causing the above error and how can I prevent this?
