Please disregard earlier email. Problem solved. Apparently when your hobbit configure script runs it offers an option of using a native fping or not. There is no option. fping must be installed or the hobbit server will not be able to ping clients. Can someone fix the configure script to reflect this? Hello, I’m installing xymon 4.2.3 on a Dell 1950 with a Redhat RHEL 5 64 bit OS. I first install rrdtool-1.0.50-3.el5.rf.x86_64.rpm rrdtool-devel-1.0.50-3.el5.rf.x86_64.rpm pcre-8.01.zip then xymon-4.2.3.tar.gz After I start httpd and xymon, two aspects of monitoring fail: 1. the conn test is always red for the 90 or so servers we monitor and 2. the http [wget] test is white on the four web servers we run. We monitor both Windows 2003 servers and mostly Redhat AS 3 servers. The other monitoring tests like disk and cpu work. netstat –van shows port 1984 is up and listening. The output on the xymon startup is what I would call nominal. hobbit 4.2.0 has worked for years on a Redhat AS 3 server at our agency. We’re trying to upgrade here to RHEL 5. I’ve tried substituting hobbit 4.2.0 for xymon with the same results. The use of yum is not an option for installation on our USDOJ network. apt handling in Hobbit for Debian/Ubuntu Linux

Hi all I have Xymon/hobbit monitoring a Debian box, which has a nice SERVICE=apt monitor on it. I often see that an update is needed - typically it comes 5 minutes AFTER I leave my server :) Thus I often have my server showing yellow service flag for the apt-service until I get home in the evening. I can obviously acknowledge this warning from the Xymon web-interface, but has anyone of you been extending Xymon for handling apt-updating via the webinterface? Server reporting to another server?

I have 2 hobbit servers, one for my test environment and one for Production. These are running on RHEL3. I need to get the production server to send updates for itself to the test server. That way we get an alert if the production system goes down. Normally, I would set HOBBITSERVERS in /etc/default/hobbit-client, to point to both, but the server-only RPM does not have this file. How do I get the serer to report to itself and to another hobbit server? -- Stewart -- An infinite number of mathematicians walk into a bar. The first one orders a beer. The status check should be green, however, it goes to purple. Is there a way (and where/how) to change the default timeout for this, as I think the 4 hour time is making it puke. how to make xymon to display nodes status as fast as ganglia

hi, though ganglia and xymon are not comparable but how can i make xymon to update status of nodes as fast as ganglia. Also will it affect the xymon server load ? can somebody suggest me in detail ? thanks -- Pankaj V. Dorlikar
