Hi All. Just finished setting up a new xymon box on CentOS. Thanks Buchan Milne for the packages. Everything was so smooth it was scary. Anyway one last hurdle for me. I setup the alerts and they are coming through very nicely on email. I am using send mail as a server. However I am getting links like the following in the mail See http://localhost/xymon-cgi/bb-hostsvc.sh?HOST=Supremacy&SERVICE=conn . For some unknown reason it is seeing the server as localhost and thus the link does not work. Can anyone give me some pointers on where to look? Is this a send mail issue or is it a setting somewhere in xymon? Regards Neil

FW: Graph on status page but not on trends

Hi all, I am battling with trying to get a graph to appear on the trends column. What I have is a custom test appearing in it's own status column - specifically "databases". The data as well as the graph is correct in it's own status column, but don't seem to appear on the trends column with the other graphs. There is probably something obvious that I am missing, but can't get this working correctly. I have changed the hobbitserver.cfg where TEST2RRD="cpu=la,disk,.........,nparts,databases" GRAPHS="la,disk,.........,nparts,databases" The graph is defined in hobbitgraph.cfg as follows : [databases] FNPATTERN ^database.(.+).rrd TITLE Database Transaction Rate YAXIS Transactions(R+W) DEF:nt at RRDIDX@=@RRDFN@:numtrans:AVERAGE LINE2:nt at RRDIDX@#@COLOR@:@RRDPARAM@ GPRINT:nt at RRDIDX@:LAST: \: %5.1lf (cur) GPRINT:nt at RRDIDX@:MAX: \: %5.1lf (max) GPRINT:nt at RRDIDX@:MIN: \: %5.1lf (min) GPRINT:nt at RRDIDX@:AVERAGE: \: %5.1lf (avg)\n I assume the above to be correct (as well as other configurations that I have changed), because the status column for databases has the data & graph displayed as it should (below) DB STC Reads Writes ADADB021 0 0 ADADB029 0 0 ADADB030 200 0 ADADB031 0 9 ADADB032 20012 0 ADADB040 1723 14 ADADB050 67564 1816 Status unchanged in 1 hours, 2 minutes Status message received from 127.0.0.1 Client data<http://10.17.0.50/hobbit-cgi/bb-hostsvc.sh?CLIENT=mf> available [cid:image003.jpg at 01CAFD8D.BB2E9A10] I have changed my bb-hosts file to include : x.x.x.x mf # TRENDS:*,databases But that doesn't work - as no graph is displayed for the databases on the trends column. The only way I can get the graph to appear in the trends column is to change the bb-hosts to something like the following : x.x.x.x mf # TRENDS:*,cics:cics|databases The databases graph then appears on the trends column, but this is not quite what I want to do. However, doing it this way then provides a different restriction. If the cics graph only has 4 cics sessions that it is reporting on, and the databases graph has 7 databases that it is reporting on, when the graphs are displayed on the trends column, the cics graph is correct but the databases graph only displays the first 4 databases (below) instead of all 7 databases (above). TS - Hobbit ==> SNMP

I have installed Hobbit on a Dell R-610 on CentOS 5.4. I have installed Net:SNMP so that I can query a MIB. I am looking for a good setup guide/HOW-TO to integrate a test to controlling an ICON on a device. I must be searching in the archive for the wrong string. I want to test a MIB or MIBs and then trigger a change in the ICON red, yellow, green e.g. temperature of a device, or reserve power in a UPS I am also looking for a GOOD J HOW-TO for setting up DEVMON on the Xymon server. It seems that it can read the bb-hosts file to find the devices to monitor. But then again, I read that you have to edit a configuration file for the device and the test to run. I could not find a good testing info source of the options that are available. If you use the config file does it then only test the devices in the configs file vs. the bb-hosts file? Solaris 10 x86 Client mis-reporting available disk space

I've just installed xymon latest onto a Solaris X86 client, and it is reporting warning levels of 90% disk use, when in fact the machine is only at 60%. I've been unable to find where and how this is defined/set, and same goes for swap and CPU (although these two ARE NOT a problem right now). Thank you in advance, .vp

Checkpoint Client for Xymon

Does anyone know if there is a native client for Checkpoint? We would like to monitor all of our Checkpoint firewalls. We are getting data from Devmon, but we would like to get more visibility into the actual system. Dave -- David S.
