New UPS monitor added to Xymonton

I just added a new entry to the Xymonton monitors page. The set of scripts is to monitor and graph AC input voltage, AC output voltage, battery charge %, battery voltagee, and UPS Load % of UPSes monitored by the Network UPS tools (NUT) suite. NUT is a great open-source UPS monitoring project who's primary goal as stated on their website is: "...to provide reliable monitoring of UPS and PDU hardware and ensure safe shutdowns of the systems which are connected. We attempt to monitor every kind of UPS and PDU, given sufficient interest." NUT may be found at http://www.networkupstools.org/ The latest versions of the xymon_nut_*.sh scripts, as well as instruction on installing them may be found at http://www.revpol.com/xymon_nut_scripts Hope these are useful to someone. :) P.S. New perl library and client channel script added to xymonton

I've just spent a bit of time tidying up some code I've been meaning to do for ages and put on xymonton. http://xymonton.trantor.org/doku.php/monitors:check-client http://xymonton.trantor.org/doku.php/monitors:xymonext.pm check-client.pl --------------- Listens on the client channel form hobbitd and produces new columns and status reports - easily extended. At present it reports on the following: "pmem" - can be used to check physical memory size - I set this up to ensure teh service console VM on ESX hosts had sufficient memory allocated "route" - check that a host has the correct default route configured - I had a couple of hosts that "lost' their default route, so wanted to make sure that wouldn't happen again "who" - any root login shows yellow. Lists currently logged in users If additional sections are added on clients in the hobbitclient script, this script can be extended to report on those. XymonExt.pm ----------- Based on the BigBrother.pm script from deadcat.net, with various xymon extensions. Can be used on the xymon server to query bb-hosts for various test tags, and on any client to query xymon server, track test colours and report in various ways. $ perldoc XymonExt.pm XymonExt - Perl extension to simplify writing XymonExt external scripts in PERL. IP address - from where?

Hi all Probably need some of the coder types to answer this one for me. For the different network tests, where does Xymon get the IP address from? In particular, ping, ssh, oratns, dns etc. I think I read somewhere that for ping, Xymon does a host name lookup. But is this the case for the other tests? Thanks Vernon

Xymonton code download question

Has anyone worked out how to create a link in Xymonton to directly download the code of a test? The monitor page template has a Download field which is why I'm curious. DokuWiki doco suggests it's possible: http://www.dokuwiki.org/syntax#downloadable_code_blocks It doesn't seem to work. The <file> tag isn't supported at all. Old version on xymonton, or my bad? m0n0wall firewall monitor added to Xymonton

Hello everyone. I just added a m0n0wall firewall monitor to Xymonton. m0n0wall is a popular open-source firewall based on FreeBSD. It has a pretty simple, clean web-based GUI for management and it may be installed to hard drive, booted from CD or USB, and it even runs on several "embedded" systems. m0n0wall may be found here: http://m0n0.ch/wall The xymon_m0n0CFG.rb script polls the main status page from one or more m0n0walls using wget and then pulls out the relevant fields (Version, Platform, Uptime, Last modification change date/time, and Notes) and reports them back to a Xymon server to be displayed. The script is configured to send a yellow alert if the m0n0wall has been up less than 24 hours, or if the configuration has been changed. xymon-client repo install broken also?

After hand-repairing a broken repo install of xymon on a new prototype xymon server, I just attempted a xymon-client install on a prototype client. That was broken, too. Am I doing something wrong, or is the rpm just hosed? This is a fully updated RHEL5 system. Like the server install, the xymon-client install blew up with a rename error and left the already unpacked files in place but with no trace of xymon in the rpm database. I guess I can clean up by pulling a file manifest from the rpm. Problems compiling Xymon 4.2.3 on Solaris 9 SPARC

[hobbit] xynagios for RHEL ?

Hi Martin, I just took a quick peek into the file and it is a perl script that says in the description: <xynagios> runs a Nagios check, and reports its output in a way compatible with the Xymon (Hobbit, BB) monitoring system. The Xymon test name is taken from the plugin output if it starts with test_name <OK|WARNING|CRITICAL|ERROR|UNKNOWN>. Otherwise, the basename of the plugin filename is used. A check prefix is removed for brevity. So it seems you can run Nagios tests in XYmon with this script. And since this is a perl script you might only need some additional modules that can be found in the Debian package libsysadm-install-perl and maybe there is a similar package for Red Hat too. Is the Digest broken for all users on Digest? Has anyone tried unsubscribing and subscribing back up again to see if the Digest is still broken for a new subscription?
