Wants Status to change for MSGS (Log file) for Hobbit Client

Hello, I'm having a problem with getting a hobbit client to change status of 'MSGS' to Red if Hobbit finds the word "error" in /var/log/messages. A few things to note: - The Client *can* transmit data to the hobbit server for all other statuses(memory, procs, disk, etc..) without any problems - The ''hobbit'' account does have read access to /var/log/messages - The Client launches Hobbit with the ''-local'' option to allow use of localclients.cfg - I've frequently ran ''logger -p" to force the word ''error'' into /var/log/messages. - The hostname matches what's in bb-hosts and the config files on both client and server - Linux client and server *Here is what I have in /home/hobbit/client/etc/localclient.cfg on the Hobbit Client:* ============================================================ DEFAULT UP 1h LOAD 5.0 10.0 DISK * 90 95 MEMPHYS 100 101 MEMSWAP 50 80 MEMACT 90 97 LOG /var/log/messages error COLOR=red ##This does not work PROC "/opt/openfiler/sbin/opendev" 1 2 yellow ##This works fine ============================================================ *Here is what I have in /home/hobbit/server/etc/client-local.cfg on the Hobbit Server:* ============================================================ [linux] log:/var/log/messages:10240 ============================================================ *And here is what I have in /home/hobbit/server/etc/hobbit-clients.cfg on the Hobbit Server:* ============================================================ UP 1h LOAD 5.0 10.0 DISK * 90 95 SWAP 20 40 MEMPHYS 100 101 MEMSWAP 50 80 MEMACT 90 97 LOG /var/log/messages error COLOR=red HOST=gsxxx.xxxxxi.com ============================================================ And yet I cannot get the status of MSGS to go to Red for the client when I put 'error' into /var/log/messages Thanks,

rrdtool update now shows blank RRD graphs

Not sure if this is a bug with RRD, or a change in the way RRD draws the trends graphs, but after the below YUM transaction (CentOS 5.5, Xymon 4.2.3-1), all of my graphs are now missing text (e.g. http://imgur.com/n8AGe.png) Can anyone venture a guess as to why? Bug in RRD or in Xymon? How to use the critical system.

Running xymon 4.2.3 on a Sun Solaris 10 server. Have read the document on the "Critical systems editor" and tried to edit a host but I get nothing in the hobbit-nkview.cfg file. I have looked in the /var/log/xymon logs and I do not see any errors. I enter a host name and a test and the click search. At that time I get a window popup "No recored forthis host/service". I then click on "update record" but nothing happens and the "Last update by:" does not change. Not sure where to look for errors to try and find out what is going on. strange problem with RRD graphs

hi, i have installed the lastest stable release of xymon (previously using hobbit) and added my old config files, then added some new host to be monitored and all ok for a few days. Suddenly today i've added a new host on bb-hosts, all was working fine except that all the graps reported values of "nan". Tried to remove, then delete with drop host command with no solution. Then i tried to monitor another host -my own pc, just ping test-, added to bb-hosts and got a bad suprise: same problem: graphs reporting "nan". The strange fact is that all other "old" host has good graphs still reading and showing correct data. Please help :) thanks in advance. Alessandro

Hello. I wanted to configure Hobbit server to work with 7 clients: 6 unix servers and 1 linux server. The configuration succeeded regarding unix clients. But, I got an error when I run ./runclient.sh on linux client: line 83: /home/hobbit/client/bin/hobbitlaunch : cannot execute binary file. Hobbit client startup failed Can you help me please with this issue? Can you tell me please the steps I have to follow in fixing this? Thank you in advance. Regards, Madalina

getting DURATION error in hobbitd_alert

In my hobbit-alert.cfg I have added the "DURATION>10" and I a get a Failed. See below. If I make it DURATION<10, then I do not get an error. Should the ">" be escaped? If so what is the escaped character for xymon. I have tried DURATION\>10 but it did not seem to like the \ as an escape character. Thanks for all your help. Xymon : Display and columns issue

Hi, i have xymon4.2.2 and rhel 5.2 os.i have a server and 120 clients. on some of the clients,i was getting purple status for ssh.then i removed it by using ./bb 127.0.0.1 "drop clientname ssh" on server and the purple status gone for those clients but now there is no status for ssh on display page for client.I want green status for ssh for all clients again.what should i do?Rest all thins are ok. Now our problem is that we have restriction on subcolumns argument to BBGENOPTS as this is comon for all three subcluster pages..so if we want to add one extra test in one of the subcluster, we need to increase subcolumns aruments..e.g.all subclusters have 8 tests, so subcolumns=8, now if we want to configure one more test in subcluster2 only, how we should do that? because if we do subcolumns=9, all our display page will be disturbed as there are 8 tests for subcluster1 and 3 and 9 tests for subcluster2. So how to add or remove any service without disturbing the main display? Kindly help
