Zonestat : Data not reflecting in seperate column

Hi All, We have configured the zonestat on the solaris 10 clients to get zonewise information regarding CPU, memory, etc... However we are able to view this only in the trends graphs. We would like to view this in separate columns/page. Would appreciate if anyone can guide me in configuring this. Move the BBD port 1984 to localhost

Hi guys I have a Linuxbox monitoring it self plus pinging a few other sites. There is no reporting of eg. disk/cpu from the remote sites. Therefore I like to move the open port 1984 of BBD to localhost 127.0.0.1 rather than the external IP-address of my box. I have set in my bb-hosts: 127.0.0.1 localhost # bbd But nmap <mymachine> gives ... 1984/tcp open bigbrother ... i.e. the port is opened also on my external interface - (as it is on my 127.0.0.1) How can I avoid this? Trends, trends and more trends. Feature request.

Hi all With the addition of diskstat/iostat info (along with zonestat, mpstat, a few other custom graphs, and the standard Xymon graphs), the trends column is really starting to look a little full. Cluttered might even be a better word. It would be nice to have a diskstat column for my server with all the diskstat info on one page, but the way it works right now, we can't have multiple graphs on a test page, particularly when these graphs are of different scales. (counters, percentage, kb etc) So, if that isn't possible, how difficult would it be to add a feature to create a "user defined trends" page. I know I can reshape my existing trends page, but cluttered as it is, I actually want all the graphs, and don't want tot take any out. What would be nice is if I could define a page, let's call it diskio, and then define that to contain all the diskstat graphs, and then take them out of trends. Likewise, I could do the same with mpstat and zonestat. This will give me at least 4 "trends" columns, and like the existing trends page, it would contain nothing but graphs. But each trend column would be less cluttered, and contain more specific information, making it easier to find and comprehend. How difficult would it be for the developer types to add this as a feature? Not sure how the underlying code looks, but from what I see, in the config, we have TRENDSCOLUMN="trends" GRAPHS="heaps,of,graphs,defined,here" Everything in $GRAPHS ends up under the trends column. How difficult would this be? TRENDSCOLUMN="trends, diskstat, mpstat, zonestat, network" # default plus 4 new columns. alternative to bb command

Hello! I am wondering if using netcat instead of bb to send status updates to a xymon server is a bad idea? The bb program seems to just be sending text through to the server and netcat can duplicate that functionality. So far, my testing has been good. The status updates work as expected however in trying to drop the test status using netcat from the xymon server did not seem to work and this has raised a small flag. xymon client frequently goes purple on guest VMs running on KVM host, then recovers

I'm seeing a problem where the xymon client running on guest VMs on a KVM host will go purple for a while, then recover and go back to green. Is anyone else seeing this behavior? I opened a bug report for this (ID: 3057486) but wanted to share it here, just in case someone has already identified a fix or a work around. Here's the info I put in the bug report: After an undetermined period of time, xymon clients running inside a guest VMs stop sending updates to the xymon server, causing purple alerts. After approximately 47-48 mins of purple status on the xymon server, the xymon client will resume sending regular reports every 5 mins. This can happen over and over on the same VM, and can occur on multiple VMs on the same host server at the same time. The xymon client running on the KVM host server does not have this problem. System Configurations: 1. Guest VMs: Centos 5 i386 xymon 4.2.3 client (32-bit) kernel-2.6.18-194.11.1.el5 glibc-common-2.5-49 glibc-2.5-49 2. This problem only occurs on 32-bit guests. None of our 64-bit guests experience the problem. 2. The KVM host and guests all use ntpd to keep the clocks in sync and ntp is working correctly. custom check / graphs with multiple rrd files

Hi all, I want to create graphs for i/o per seconds on all disks on host bob.somewhere.com . Configuring the client that runs on the server

I'm having a hard time determining what configuration file to modify for the client that runs on the server itself. Basically, I want to start monitoring PROCs. After some hunting (there are too many configuration files with the words "client" and "local"), I thought I found the proper file "hobbits-clients.cfg and added the following: HOST=thishost.domain.com PROC beremote 1 (wonder if I could have used "localhost") Yet, I'm still not getting PROC monitoring (Oh, I'm still on hobbit 4.2) TIA, Frank M. longer intervals between tests

Sorry if this is documented somewhere, but a quick search didn't answer my question. I'm defining a new server-side test in `hobbitlaunch.cfg`. It's working as intended, except for one thing: It doesn't need to run very often. I'm thinking every 6 hours or so. I've got it set to 1 hour now while I test things out and it keeps going purple about a minute before it runs again (and goes back to green). Is the INTERVAL supposed to be factored in when determining if something should be purple? If not, what do I need to do? A separate rule just for this test in `hobbit-alerts.cfg`?
