Which RRD data type?

Hi all, I have successfully created a new graph in Xymon 4.2.2 but the RRD data type seems to be wrong. I have a file that I am counting certain records out of and this file is reset every night, so at 00:00 I will have zero records and by 23:59 I will have a few hundreds of thousands. I would like to have this graphed such that I can see the difference in each 5 minute interval. That is if the value is 105 at 02:30 and 115 at 02:35 I want the graph to show 10. I thought that using the DERIVE data type would suffice but it's not working, the graphs are showing 5-minutes values of around 5 or ten when in fact they should be measured in the thousands. How can I graph the 5-minute difference for this data and have it actually display the data I want? |\/|

How to shorten delay before purple alerts?

How can I change xymon to alert after a server has failed to report for 15 minutes? We're finding that 30 minutes is too long a delay in the production environment. I see where you set purple delay for network tests and I see where you can return it for individual tests, and I see where you can disable purple. Is this a code change? thanks Betsy

NTP service graph broken

Peeps I can't get my NTP service page to show a graph. I run a group of stratum-2 NTP servers for internal use, and I'd like to monitor their NTP accuracy. However, I've never been able to get the "NTP" graphs to show on the status page (on Xymon 4.3.3). It always shows the broken image icon. I don't think I have altered anything to make it break, but I'm not completely sure - I think it just never worked. I get an "ntpstat" (rather than "ntp") graph, but it only shows up in trends. I'd like to get it showing up in the "ntp" status page also. The <IMG> URL in the status page uses "service=ntp" rather than "service=ntpstat" as I see on the demo site at xymon.org. A quick look through the source code for xymonrrd.c (which sets the URL for the IMG) doesn't seem to show how the URL could change the service name from "ntp" to "ntpstat". I've tried switching to using sntp, and I've tried adding "ntp" to TEST2RRD and GRAPHS, even though I didn't think these would help. They didn't help. Any ideas? Cheers Jeremy

Solaris prtdiag

Hi, I have used old good bb-prtdiag for many years. It works fairly well for a lot of old Sun machines but lack the new ones. The script is pretty nasty in nested loops and too many if's. It is not easy to update it to accommodate new machines. Is there anyone out there that has a new version of it? Can't find any on xymonton. Or do you monitor SUN hw in another way than prtdiag -> xymonserver? Otherwise I will rewrite it to support our new hw. - Roland

Hi I re-installed Xymon but I still can't get anything on the web browser. I get "Not Found. The requested URL /xymon was not found on this server" Run 'Make & make install' again with no errors. 1) Added the content of file 'xymon-apache.conf' in 'httpd.conf'. 2) Created 'xymonpasswd' using '.htaccess' and placed it in /etc/httpd directory. 3) Edited 'xymon-apache.conf' file and modify location of xymonpasswd. 4) Commented out '#AuthGroupFile /opt/xymon/server/etc/xymongroups' in httpd.conf because I am not going to use it. In fact I haven't figured out how to use it at the moment, so I will leave for another time. Content-type header missing?

Recently, Hobbit has started emailing reports which appear to have a missing "Content-type: text/html" header. Currently, the emails are displayed as text which show all the html tags. Limited data from client

Hi I have a set of Windows clients that I am monitoring CPU, disk and memory information. I added a Linux client, but the only statistic that I am able to monitor for this client is the connection information. Can someone please let me know how to get CPU, disk and memory information for this client? Thanks -- Sridhar
